Ok, this stuff has been out for a bit now. How are you liking these light weight bags? I’m looking at a light weight mini fortune cookie or pint sized game changer for hunting use. Is the weight saving worth the stability loss, in this “it’s going to get carried WAY more than it gets shot from” use case? My sticky pint size GC is my most used bag, so I’m familiar with the form factor. Just wondering how the light bags are working for you. Thanks.

I have not tried SpexLite. I have tried GitLite and Purg fill. I didn't like the GitLite on props because the bag never really settled. The Purg fill is better - more solid lock up. I use the Purg filled bag as a rear bag or to fill space like on a tank trap. My primary bag for props though is the pint-sized GC with sand fill. The nice thing about the lightweight fill is that it adds very little to your kit bags weight. I really wanted the lightweight fill to work on props because I have tendonitis in both wrist. The light weight is great but, sand fill bags just work.

You could buy some here and try them out in one of your existing bags:

SpexLite, GitLite or Purg fill would all be great for a bag you are carrying for hunting. I have a JC Steel targets bag filled with lightweight fill and it weighs less than 2 pounds. Same with the old style full-size game changer bag - under 2 pounds. I would think a little bigger bag would be useful for hunting and with the lightweight fill options, easy to tote around.

I have two bags filled with their 5125. It is very rigid but flows well. It does not lock up like OG Game Changer Fill or Sand, but it is incredibly light.

I use it in an old OG GC for support and use as a rear bag. It great for bad weather or for use in hunting applications. I also have a plate bag filled with it. I only use a plate bag when using tripod rear. So, heavy sand is not really helpful in those cases.

I've had a GitLite filled pint sized waxed canvas game changer for over two years now. Brought it to every range day and local PRS match I shot since that time, and for every match but one, it was my only bag. I like it quite a lot, especially as a rear bag, where I almost wouldn't even consider a heavier bag.

Yes, I can tell a difference in stability when used as a front support between my bag and when I've been offered to try a squadmate's 15lb special heavy bag. There's a difference there, for sure.

Yes, the weight savings between my 1.5lb and the literally ten times heavier 15lb bags is worth it for Western style spot-and-stalk long distance hike-in hunting. I'd bring my light bag with me on a hunt without question, although I might put an OBi Link on the carry strap or find a dump pouch or something it can live in during the hike.

Has anyone tried the peanut from mdt with spexlite? I’m interested in just a lighter rear support bag. I’m between the schmedium and the peanut haven’t but hands on the mdt yet might try and pick it up during Black Friday.

Tried the peanut. Just didn’t lock up like the gc. Stole the glass file out of it and made a Franken gc shmedium with half glass and half sand. Locks up great and comes in at like 6-7#. Have tried standard and gitlite and prefer a mix I have decided. Noticed ag now offers a party mix and just ordered a gc x with that to try
