So, my wife thinks I'm nuts because every time we go out to eat I usually order spicy food.

Not just "buffalo wings", but shit you have to sign a waiver for. I tell every cook "make it as hot as you can, and then make it hotter".

She's telling me that I'm going to give myself a stomach ulcer but I've been eating this way for years.

It may just be luck, but I definitely do not get stomach bugs or sick nearly as much as the wife and kids. Right now, my son, daughter and wife are all sick. The kids were throwing up with a stomach bug that seems to be going around.

Now I wouldn't say I'm 100% bulletproof on these bugs, but I can count on one finger the number of times I've had to throw up in past 12 years. And I'm only 30.

Does a diet high... VERY high... in HOT food benefit you too? Sounds weird, but I'm no Dietician...

They say that spicy food decreases your risk of colon cancer.. frequent mild marijuana can reduce your risk of Alzheimer's, and frequent ejaculations greatly reduces your risk of prostate cancer.

Looks like I'm going to be around for a long time.

Well, hot peppers contain vitamins considered necessary for good health and boosting the immune system (A,C,E, etc.)and also the compound "capsaicin" that is reputed to fight cancer, promote digestive health, etc. So if your food is "spicy" because hot peppers are an ingredient then..........maybe? I can tell you though stomach ulcers are primarily caused by a virus (or in some cases medication) and you won't obtain one through eating spicy foods. If you HAVE an ulcer, certain foods can cause greater discomfort and symptoms and that is why spicy foods are associated with stomach ulcers.

I actually argued this with my ex girlfriend over how she liked to eat her top ramen. She would squirt enough into the broth to make it a thick red color.

Did the whole, you're already stressed, this is going to cause an ulcer! speech.

Researched it, apparently it does the opposite and promotes blood flow to the stomach lining.

Go figure.

On that note, I freaking love spicy food.
