Guys this is for the ones that are sponsored by the rifle company's.
I am about to enter into a sponsorship deal and have a few questions that I hope you can answer.
The basic question is: If a top quality rifle company was to give you a new rifle to use for a year, what do they expect in return? i.e. advertising, use or rifle, etc. If you don't want to make it public please PM me.

The only one you should be asking is that company. What we do for ours is irrelevant. What your company wants you to do for them is the only thing that matters.

What I am basically looking for is guidelines or in this case the lack of. I don't need to know every little detail of each persons deal, but you would think in a sport that is apparantly growing that there would be some basic guidelines that both the manufacturer and the shooter would expect from each other. But as has been the case many times, I could be wrong.

Their toys, their expectation. If they want you to stand on your head you need to decide if that is what you want to do. Number of comps, local, regional, national, etc? They set the terms.

Most companies are very easy to deal with and ask little in return. The important thing to do is make sure both sides know exactly whats expected and what the deal is.

Not sure what your sponsors would require of you but when I sponsor shooters I look for someone who is professional, conducts themselves in a respectful manner, is a steward of the sport.

If you win a match and show your butt it it will put your company in a bad light. No matter where you finish, if you work hard, apply yourself and prepare yourself you should win some respect.

I would also ask them what kind of monetary and/or material support you can expect. Often going to big matches with $200 plus entry fees that are out of your area can end up costing you lots of money by the time you figure in hotel, transportation, meals, entry fee, ammo and so on.

If they demand that you attend $5000 worth of competitions, will they support you doing that, and if so how?

Getting a nice rifle to use is great. But nothing is free.

Sponsors want to see results and feed back. That doesnt necessarily mean winning. Some sponsors it might mean writing reviews of their products for and some want to see customers reference seeing you with the product as convincing them of the sale.
