I've been researching spotting scopes and I need help. As this seems to be the most knowledgeable community of people I've found, I thought I would put the question to you. I'm looking for a spotting scope for the range and for unknown distance. My current rifle scope is a Nikon 4.5-14x40mm (SFP at 12x) which is a pain to set to when I want to range something. I'm thinking I want a spotting scope with Mils which leaves me with the Leupold Gold Ring or the Bushnell Excursion. I've read the review LowLight did on the Bushnell and Leupold seems to be not what it once was. I only have about $400 to work with, as I'm on a budget. I'm new so I'll appreciate any help, or if anyone can point me in the right (or different) direction I'd appreciate it.
