Where I hunt is 5 hours from where I live so I don't get to spend the time I would like figuring out the deer. I made a trip this past few days to see what was there for sheds and look at last falls rutting activity before new growth covered it up.

I have been watching for sign of a nice WT I passed 3 years ago. He was a clean 5pt, probably 135ish about 20" wide but needed some mass and tine length to be a great deer. While I did not find any sheds that I know belong to him, (memory can fool a guy) I found these rubs and a nice 5pt side in the area where I would have expected him to show.

Due to paying hunters having first dibs on the property, I don't get to hunt until they have filled which usually means going the last half of the season. There have not been any real nice WT killed on the place for a few years so I don't think anyone got him and by the looks of these rubs, something nice must still be in the area.

Maybe this fall...
