SPS Tactical Twist 308?

Re: SPS Tactical Twist 308?

SPS Tactical is 1-12" twist, as is all other Rem 700 308's, except two.

Only the Rem 700SPS Tactical AAC-SD comes with a 1-10" twist barrel. The Rem 700 5R has a 1-11.25" twist.

Re: SPS Tactical Twist 308?

You'll be good up to the 175 grain bullets and maybe a little heavier with the 1 in 12. The 1 in 10 would sling the 208/210 grain rounds well. If you are looking to stay at 175 and below, you will be fine with the 1 in 12.

Re: SPS Tactical Twist 308?

I have a varmint 1:12. Tried the 208 amax before I chopped it and showed some promise. Guess I'll load up some more and give it a whirl with the 20" barrel and see where it leads me.

Re: SPS Tactical Twist 308?

I just picked up a new SPS Tactical and its 1:12 twist. So far its shooting the 155's and 167's well, opened up a bit with the 175's / Varget combo. I've shot the 26" SPS 1:12 with 208 A-Max's with reasonable results.

As stated the SPS Tactical is 1:12

The SPS Tactical AAC-SD is 1:10

1:10 is FASTER than the 1:12

The Remington 1:12 barrels have no problem shooting 175gr Match Kings. It has been my experience that the 155 Scenars don't shoot as well at close range, but go to sleep around 200.
