I am considering selling my Near 25 MOA base and buying a Spuhr for my TRG-22.

When I bought the Near rail I though I could use it with Near rings but he does not make rings for 34 mm scope tubes.

Is anyone using the Spuhr 34 mm mount with a 5-25x56 Premier scope?

Per Håkan: "the Spuhr 34 mm mounts are designed to work with PMll, but should work with all 34 mm scopes except uso with erek knob." The operative word being should.

Some pictures of Lill-Rambo's rig with a 5-25x56 S&B. The Premier has more or less same dimensions so I believe it will work out just the same.

Re: Spuhr 34mm Mount with Premier scope

The issues is not whether it will fit but whether or not the parallax will continue to work with the torgue used by Spuhr, as Premier wants absolutely nothing more than 15" lbs otherwise you risk cutting off the parallax.

There is very little room to maneuver with the Premier before you risk an issue in function. I am not 100% sure with the 5-25x but we certainly see it with the 3-15x.

I have been running my PR 3-15x50 in the Spuhr mount without any issues for almost a year now so I'm happy.
I've heard many having issues with the PR though, including the ones you mention LL.
A friend sent his back to resolve the Parallax issue and it was repaired and covered by the warranty.

Lowlight,

My best option is probably the Badger Ordinance 1" high 306-75 rings. Rings will give me way more flexibility as far as where I can mount the scope on the rail. They will also leave sufficient room for me to mount bubble level on scope tube.

I was considering the Near Alphamount but it leaves no room for bubble level on scope tube and may limit exact where I can position scope too.

Personally I would recommend using Badger Rings and torquing them to 15 inch pounds as recommended. However, I am big fan of the Spuhr and knowing you can have the scope adjusted if an issue comes up, is something to think about.

Re: Spuhr 34mm Mount with Premier scope

With a TRG and Premier scope you need a lot of mounting flexibility, because if you mount it too low,and too far back, the spent brass will hit the windage knob also on low Alpha mount erector belly will touch the bottom of the mount.

No not quite. I had the parallax problem with a 3x15 and had to send it back to be fixed. The 5x25 has been ok though

Got mine from TNVC, they were great to deal with.

Re: Spuhr 34mm Mount with Premier scope

Hi

The recomended 25 in/lbs is maximum, there is no problem to use less torque on the ring screws.

Anyway, I belive our rings/mounts would have less affect on the scopetubes than mostly other makes as we make the rings 32mm (1,25"long) and thus spreads the force over a bigger area.

But it's really no problem at all to use 15in/lbs on the ring screws that works great.

Again. I cannot see any reason at ALL why one should use a picatinny rail on the top of a perfect TRG steel rail machined in one piece with the action, when this perfect steel rail can be used instead.
The fewer parts the better!
That is why we are making one piece rings/mounts without having them assembled from loads of pieces and also why we make direct TRG and AI mounts.

Last:
Why adding a separate bubble level when we have one that is included with the mount.
Will not be forgotten home/broken off/not turned out to visiability/add any weigth........

Re: Spuhr 34mm Mount with Premier scope

Sorry, I wrote the wrong thing to Ronas.
The Erek knob is not any problem, the T-Pal is aproblem though as the middle section of the scope is far to long.

I emailed Richard about rings for my TRG and he wrote back that he has Alphamounts to fit my rifle. Maybe he does not make 34 mm rings anymore or he's out of stock right now. Not sure.

Hakan,

Did you ever finalize the torque specs for the rings & base? I don't recall seeing them....

Dang, I have my PH 5-25 torqued at 25 in/lbs. Never had any issues. Glad I didn't take it any tighter though, I didn't even know about this issue with them.

the base torque specs are 45 in lbs

Re: Spuhr 34mm Mount with Premier scope

I have a Spuhr mount on my 6X24 FFP PST and when installing it the parallax started getting really stiff at 20 in. #. I ended up with about 12 in. #. Mounted to AR10 I have no issues, lots of clamping area plus the easy installation with the 10 degree wedge.

Re: Spuhr 34mm Mount with Premier scope

Hi Guys,
Just wanted you to know we have fixed the issue with the parallax. I apologize for it taking so long and do appreciate everyones patience but we got the engineering ok and the specs for new parts and we are good to go.
I have tested these at various torque ranges as well as areas on the tube with good results.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thanks,
Paul

Paul, I purchased my PH 5-25 about 2 months ago new. It has the etching on the parallax knob. Do I need to have it sent back in to get the updated parts or am I good to go?

Re: Spuhr 34mm Mount with Premier scope

Since I already have the Near rail I decided to go with the Badger Rings USMC M40A3, Standard Height 1.0", diameter: 34mm, P/N 306-75, NSN 1005-01-537-8618.

As I recall I think Premier recommended Badger rings.

Re: Spuhr 34mm Mount with Premier scope

I had that setup before switching it around to the Spuhr TRG mount. Just one less thing to worry about with the mount and base into one and it also gives it a cleaner look.
