Rifle Scopes Spuhr Mount Repeatability?

Ok, so I have a Schmidt and Bender scope on my .308, and I am building a .223. So, since I'm spoiled by the S&B I don't want to sell it and get two lesser scopes, so I would love to use it on both rifles, and verify the zero changes after much testing with a reliable unimount. Right now I'm running a Spuhr mount and it is built like a tank, and I don't want to sell it. Does anyone have any experience with moving their Spuhr set up from rifle to rifle, and have you experienced a reliable repeatability, or should I just go with another option?

Thanks,
Troy

Re: Spuhr Mount Repeatability?

I have a Bender in a Spuhr, and I have used it to swap back and forth between two rifles multiple times. It has been repeatable (within a tenth of a mil) every time. I do use a torque wrench to make sure the torque is the same.

Re: Spuhr Mount Repeatability?

Actually, I ended up answering my own question today. I took the scope off earlier this week, and I mounted it back up today before a match practice and my zero was still perfect. In fact, I didn't notice this before, but when I get the scopes recoil lugs into place on my base, it doesn't move back or forth at all, so needing to push the scope forward before tightening isn't even an issue.

I push my rings backwards before tightening

You should push them forward before torquing them, not back.

Just an friendly piece of advice.

Re: Spuhr Mount Repeatability?

I do have a little more to add to this. I have taken the mount off about five times or so now and put it on different rifles, and every time I put it back on my rifle and put the adjustments where they're supposed to be, it has returned to zero every time. It's not very quick, but it is very accurate.

Re: Spuhr Mount Repeatability?

Mostly mounts comes today with the torque sequence marked out to enhance the repetability.
There is also a indexmark so the screw can be set back to same torqe each time without using a torque wrench if the owner have put an indexmark on the screw as well.
