I'm looking at one for my PR, however I'm a "lefty" any owner/operators able to tell me if I will be able to see the built in level? and overall satisfaction?
With a 34mm tube and a 56mm objective, on a "standard" barrel contour can you get away with the 30mm mount height?, using a 20 MOA base?

Re: SPUHR Mounts

Any separate ring users (34mm) out there? Just wondering with the 1" height how close a 56mm objective would be to the barrel? and any comments on the level? set-up? Thanks

Re: SPUHR Mounts

Can't speak for Spuhr rings, but I am using Badger 1" high rings (on top of a 20 MOA Seekins base) on my SPS Varmint. They leave approx. .2" between the barrel and the PR 5-25x56 front lens cap.

I have this set up w/ a S&B 5-25. The rifle is at the 'smith right now and it'll be back on Thursday. I'll get you a measurement and/or picture to show the gap to a Kreiger heavy varmint barrel. As a RH shooter I find myself really having to 'look' for the level.... not as easy as I thought it would be.

Re: SPUHR Mounts

I've got a couple sets of the rings on the way from MHSA(great folks).I think that the 1" height will be fine, I'm not running heavy barrels. Thanks. BTW what torque setting did you use for the rings and the bases?
I'm thinking 16in/lbs for the rings, and 55in/lb for the base?
Did anyone use the leveling kit? comments?

Re: SPUHR Mounts

The 1" wouldn't work for my S&B, but the AX chassis is a flat top design. The Surgeon action has a 20moa rail. I had to get the 1.4".

Re: SPUHR Mounts

Your torque #s are fine. The leveling kit presumes that the ring base is level with the bore axis. I didn't find that to be true on my rifle. using the leveling kit would have simply leveled the scope with the base, not the bore.

Re: SPUHR Mounts

So I have my rings, the 1" height clears the 56mm objective with the barrel, on the PR with the flip up cap.I have the Stiller rail on my action and with the rings at each end, there in not much real estate to get the correct eye relied. However, looking at it, I think that I'm going to be OK, as I have a general idea where the eye piece sits for the correct relief.Overall the rings are high quality and very light.Good stuff, thanks MHSA!! Cheers
