SR-25 Complete Lower For Sale????

So I broke down and bought a KAC SR-25 complete upper , PC, with the intention of getting the complete lower as well.

I sold an Aero 308 that I pieced together recently and sent funds today. Supposedly has 20 rounds through it and in as new condition.

I’ve read I can run it on my Mega Maten until I find the KAC lower. I’ve also found an LMT MARS-H lower today and read those fit as well.....I’ve been looking today and haven’t had much luck finding a complete KAC lower for sale. Anyone know of a source?

Hey there. Yes the SR-25 will work with the mega. I have bought several Kac lowers from gun broker. That’s the best place to acquire them.

It doesn't have to be the MARS lower. The standard LMT will work fine, as the forgings were actually made by LMT for KAC at one point. The cuts and patterns should match.

ADM also makes a SR-25 cut lower if you don’t need a matching lower company. Offers a few different options for ambi set up compared to a KAC, like a right side bolt hold open if I am not mistaken. Similar price to an LMT lower and you can get it stripped to build how you want.

You can buy two LMT MARS lowers for what you’ll likely pay for the KAC and you’ll have them sooner. KAC lowers are not sold separately so it’s a crap shoot when they will turn up

there is fit, and then there is fit. Other than a Knights, the best fit for a KAC upper is an LMT MWS or MARS-H lower. Some others will work, but they really do not fit well.

I just picked up a LMT lower yesterday and it fits a Knight's Mk11 Mod0 upper like it was a matched set. Really happy with it.

I’ve decided to get the LMT MARS-H. Now I just need to figure out if I want the complete LMT lower or the stripped lower and put all the parts I want on it. The stripped is about $400 and a complete lower right at $1000.

Tha MARS is a good choice. I’m a huge KAC fan but I’m just not willing to pay what people want for the lowers. KAC and LMT have an intertwined relationship which is why the uppers and lowers fit so well together.

It’s been a while since I looked but I seem to remember being able to build a stripped MARS for less than the cost of a complete lower. And that was using a Geissele trigger. Check out LMTs website for the lower parts kit.

I will say, the right side bolt release on the MARS-H does contact/rest on the knights upper when I tried initial fit. Doesn’t look like it would impact function but it’s there. That’s why I will be running a standard MARS on my Knights 20” and a LMT upper on my H. I can take some pictures tonight to show you.

Yes, please do. I’m leaning towards the standard MWS. I have several other large frames including Mega, Armalite and Aero and none of them have right side bolt release.

Thank you for sharing. I can say with about 90% certainty, I’m ordering the MWS stripped lower. Then if an opportunity comes along to buy a KAC, get that one also. Damn, then I’d have to buy an LMT upper to go on the MWS lower. It’s a vicious cycle! ?

That’s a new one one me! According to Jack Leuba and others at KAC they will not sell SR-25 lowers separately. I believe they have instructed people that wanted a lower to buy a complete rifle and sell the upper. They sell SR-15 and SR-30 lowers but not SR-25 lowers

Didn’t know that, I’ve only ordered anSR-30 lower. Still worth an email to see if they had a change in policy.

They don’t sell Factory lowers in 308. Your going to be stuck with hybrid which isn’t bad. However if you want a KAC rifle, save thethe money.
YMMV but I’ve been dealing with KAC for 20 years and they don’t sell SR 25 lowers.

Btw, I LOVE my LMT’s, but your resale on a hybrid is ZILCH compared to your KAC SR 25.

If you actually saved and bought the entire rifle, took care of it and one day decided to part ways, you could sell it for at least what you paid. Your hybrid while certainly excellent, won’t be worth half of what the KAC 25 would sell for....

MY LMT MWSF IS OUTSTANDING,,,,,,especially in 6.5 Creedmoor. However it costs less than half of what a new KAC 25 would cost. Is it worth it? That depends. I bought two KAC SR 25’s (one EC and one ECC) at the same time. The dimpled barrel URX 3.1 sold for 3K more than I paid for it. This one (the EC) is a fantastic shooter which groups around .65 MOA with 5 rounds of 168 grain FGMM and will sell for what I paid for it (AT LEAST) if I ever decide to part ways.....YMMV

Go,with the MAR-S Lower....it is pure awesomeness. Sinc eyou building a really nice rifle, buy once cry once. Don’t go cheap, you will regret. The MARS is a truly ambidextrous Lower and its fantastic.

The KA SR 25 is used around the world and only has a few competitors (HK, LMT and ??)....the SR 25 is what made Eugene Stoner and Knight’s famous. Their culture is one of “secrecy and obsessive quality”. They do ‘t sell the KAC 25 lowers. The only competition they have is LMT, and HK. Who else is building an AR 10 that’s used around the world that’s built like a shit brick house?

I understand. They want their customers to invest in their system. They will sell uppers all day long because they know they won’t function without their lowers (except LMT ). LMT’s work great and I trust them with my life as well. After using the KA SR25 rifles for years, I will say that they stand up to severe, hard core abuse in the field. I know of no other ar 10 that has this established reputation and it took Knight’s at least 4 wars and millions in research to get there.

I’m not saying they are the end all anything. But they are tough, with go to hell reliability in all weather environments and I would trust my life to either system in a heartbeat. There are not a lot of gas rifles
I know of that I would consider spending a month in the desert with contact to save your life...

The others I trust ar the FN Scar (with caveats), the LMT MWS with Caveats, and the HK mr 556 and possible the HK mR 762 A1 (it’s extremely accurate but it hasn’t been fielded for a long enough period To know if they will stand the test of time., the HK MR 556 has....YMMV JMHO

I 100% understand and that’s why I invested in the upper. At the time though, I had no idea I couldn’t buy the lower. Well, unless it was from an individual. That’s okay though, I’m ordering the LMT lower this afternoon and have an email notification the upper will be delivered by the end of today.

Well, it arrived. I installed it on one of my Mega Maten lowers and quickly learned SR-25 bolt carrier will not allow the use of a BCM trigger. The fit between the upper and lower is very tight and I had to tap the take down pin in the last 1/4” or so. Looks a little funky but I ordered the MARS-H lower today. I ordered the stripped lower but it comes with all the controls already installed. I also ordered the push pins and an enhanced trigger guard.
I’m adding an SSA-E and already have the rest of the parts on hand to assemble the lower. EXCITED, to say the least!

They just started doing that. They announced selling uppers maybe two years ago but they really have only been available for a little over a year. Maybe one day they will sell the lowers separately but I wouldn’t hold my breath, even with Trey at the helm. As far as reliability goes, check out a class running 7.62 semi autos and you’ll see why KAC carries the premium. KAC and LMT always seem to make it through the class without issue but FN, HK, and all the race guns like Seekins and JP have problems. I’m not saying they are bad platforms but they are not in the same league. Different tools for different jobs.
