I wish LaRue had the option of additional uppers for my LaRue lower (pred308) but that's about it
I'd want an upper to use as a "blaster". But obviously, price, and to a lesser degree, appearance, would play a major role in my decision.
The stripped upper would be priced reasonably and since it would be stripped you could put any caliber barrel you wanted in it.
Yes... If I could have a gas-piston option for my LMT, it was high quality and had a user level replaceable barrel like the LMT, and accurate like the LWRC series.
I only had one malfunction with my MWS. Pulled the trigger, and cartridge didn't fire. Tried to pull the charging handle to eject the cartridge, and the live round (FGMM) was stuck in the chamber. No matter haw hard I tried, I couldn't get that stuck cartridge to budge. So I dropped the lower, cocked the hammer, and swung the upper back into position. Fired the cartridge, and it ejected just fine. The only thing I can think that contributed to that malfunction is how dirty the MWS gets.
That's the reason I'd like to have a gas-piston upper. All my LMT MRP gas-piston rifles shoot sub-MOA with BHA Red Box 69 and 77-gr match loads, or my hand loads with the 77-gr SMK.
So, in my case I see no reason not to have a gas-piston upper in 308.

I don't know how I missed this earlier, but I will definitely be in for two of these receivers if they work out nice.
Once we check the upper for fit and function , I should have a first production upper to show everyone. It will be a stripped upper that will fit SR-25 / LMT / LaRue / Matix / Armalite A model / Ruger (for a DI conversion) . It uses a high rail so KAC , SWS , DD rails line up and a DPMS barrel nut. Units will be made out of 7075 T6 billet .

Hey do you have a set of calipers handy ? Can you tell me what the pivot and take down pin diameter is on the obr .277/8 or .281/2
Man I'm sorry, I don't. I'm overseas and have neither calipers nor the rifle with me. I'm sure I'd be turning some heads if I did though
I am currently looking for an upper to buy in order to build another upper assembly for my OBR. Please keep us posted on the progress of this upper and if it will fit on a LaRue OBR lower receiver.
.218? Can you measure that again. We know that the SR uppers run just fine on OBR's but I have not had an OBR to test with. Skeeter has one and SR upper . He can chime in on this

The fit looks nice. Would you mind shooting a closer photo of the receiver just above the front take down pin? In these photos it looks like the receiver protrudes out with a sharp corner.
It is most likely just the shadow. However, it looks like a great match to the lower and then about half way through the area just below ejection port the upper protrudes outward and is wider than the lower. Would you post a shot from the front showing how the upper and lower align on the LMT MWS.

There is a sharp corner that was removed on production unit. As for the other question about alignment, I took the photos with a cell phone from a bad angle . I would say the fit and alignment is about the same as the KAC upper. I can take some pictures when I get free time in the next day two
Thank you for all the updates. I am looking forward to getting a Krieger or Bartlein barrel with a Centurion Arms rail on the LMT. Please post up a production ready photo on an LMT MWS when you get the chance.
I don't expect to have the production for at least a week or two at min. My understanding is they are gearing up for the preorder run. Are you going to build a 6.5c upper?

Built this little blaster / battle rifle. It was setup with Armalite gas system and buffer to smooth out the gun.

Just a little update So I got to the range and got about close to 300 rounds down the pipe. Runs great. I got to test it with DPMS , KAC , Gen 2 and Gen 3 Pmags. The upper runs great. I did shoot about 50 rounds with LMT MWS lower and the rest on the 80%. The upper functioned great on both lowers.
Any rough idea of when they will ship?? I am thinking of doing a JP set up with the upper I ordered.
I am not sure, waiting on my production upper and lower set to do a build . I am expecting that items should be shipping week after next. Once the uppers come back from ano.
