I have a LMT and love it. Its extremely accurate and reliable. I would Buy the LMT and buy a great optic and suppressor for the money it would cost for the KAC.

Here is mine. LMT 16 CL barrel, Nightforce F1 with MLR2.0, Atlas Bipod, Accuracy 1st level. Shoots under 1/2 MOA and Ive taken it out to 816yards so far with 175SMK and American Eagle 150g FMJBT. It shoots them both great.
I own a LMT Mws 20"SS 1/11.25 twist and absolutely love it. She's heavy, but I don't go running around the brush with it anyway. She's very accurate and reliable.
Although I am tossing around the idea of getting into a bolt gun and can't have both.(Wife says)...lol What to do?
Simple solution, Sir, get your wife to shoot that rifle and fall in love with it, then you can buy yourself a bolt action rifle, and you will only "own" one, but can shoot the other when she isn't around to do so herself....
It actually works fairly well, although I'd like to have an AR-15 too.

I'm an LMT vote for all the added benefits of barrel length, CL/SS and calibers versus a less than 1 pound difference to the ECC. I really like the ECC but the difference in $$ just helped me decide that much easier. Ounces = pounds and pounds equal pain but in the original post; I think you said range/fun rifle. I'll take that extra beef in the barrel as they are very rigid. I have seen the 13.5 inch CL barrel do amazing things at 1-500 yards with mk316 mod o and FGMM. I did drop the bones on a geissele sd as I am a big fan of those as well. The LMT 2 stage is ok but the geissele takes it to another level. The MWS with full quad feels fat and handling, shooting the repr, ECC, MWS and now the LM8mws; I would try and hold out for the LM8mws if you can. Although the beefy barrel clamp is still there, it feels more handy and gives a perception of being lighter since manipulation is easier. Just my .02....

I would be careful with lubrication...by adding lube you can double the stress in the bolt with the same 140 inch lb torque value...I never use lubrication. I have done the calculations and with 140 inch lb torque, dry lubrication, the stress in the stud is about 40 percent loaded, I assumed a grade 8 stud strength....
To make sure I have the proper torque on the stud I purchased a dedicated torque wrench from Seekonk, $155 but the best money I have ever spent...

The settings on the factory wrench get moved around too easy (I know you

No mention of lube on bolts in my post.
The lube issue is with the wrench. Tourque wrenches have lube in the heads and as most sit for a awhile between uses its necessary to "excercise" the wrench to redistribute lube in the clicker head.
I agree having clean, dry nuts is important.

Part of the suspected issue with the LMT wrench is that it is taped at the desired tourque setting. Tourque tools should be zeroed for storage. Leaving it at its target tourque makes it even more important to "excercise" the wrench prior to use. Even then if held at a setting for a long time there may be a chance the calibration has drifted.
Seekonk is a great idea if you only need the wrench for one setting. I bought my SnapOn wrench years ago to work on my motorcycle now its getting double duty working on another money pit interest.

I bought one of the first ones out and couldn't t have been more disgusted.
It was a 16" and would not shoot better then 2". I called LMT ans spoke with CS. Who told me that was about right and if I wanted better accuracy to get a ss barrel. This was after I spent $2000.00. I figured that another $800.00 at the time put it around the GAP-10 SO I ordered one from George and couldn't be happier.
I also have a Larue that shoots crazy accurate along with the GAP.
I know that one can get a lemon in every bunch and that is what I'm thinking I got. This isn't bashing LMT however to spend that much for the convience of changing calibers doesn't appeal to me.

After handling both weapon systems I would have to include a vote for the lmt. Remarkably well built, reliable and accurate rifle for the money. If I had to have a knights priced rifle the gap-10 would get my deposit. Any choice you make will be a great decision and will give years of fun and reliability. Good luck and great shooting!

Wasn't going to swap barrels. (That is a sweet feature, some guys use the shit out of it, I wasn't)
Weight. The EMC may only be 0.5 lbs lighter, seems like more. If you get the barrel dimpled, that's $250+.
I want BUIS on my 16" rifle, that's going to add another $250+/-. If it was a 20", set up for LR, steel and paper, wouldn't put BUIS on it.
LMTs come with an A-2 flash suppressor, if you want to run a can, new muzzle treatment is going to be at least $200, probably more. The EMC is ready to roll.
KACs come with a swivel attachment point at the rear of the lower, better way to attach sling (For me), that's another $60. I don't like my sling attached to the sopmod.
New trigger. That's $250, or spring kits, etc. My KAC trigger is just fine.
The KAC bolt carrier has those smexy carbon cuts, don't know just how much effectiveness they add, they look slick. KAC bolt, bolt carrier, finished "nicer" than LMT.
If you add these things up, you're adding $800+ to your LMT. LMT is value, I loved mine, but you might end up spending more later on upgrades that are standard on a KAC.
One thing I hated about my LMT, it was terribly over gassed. Made what should have been a very soft rifle to shoot, hard kicking compared to my EMC. I guess one could change that, but how much would that be?
My EMC is a 1" rifle with FGMM and a 6X scope with a fairly coarse reticle. It's a sweet rifle. I loved my LMT, just like my 16" EMC a little more. Hey, it's not the rifles any more, it's the fucking ammo that costs a fortune...

I've owned LWRC, LMT DPMS and now the S&W M&P10 gassers. I always wanted the KAC SR-25 and would buy one in a minute if priced reasonably.

Does the KAC come with any sort of QD sling attachment on the forward rail like the LMT?
I've never shot another 308 gas gun to compare but with the 18 inch barrel and rifle gas system for the LMT it doesn't seem to be over gassed anymore. My 16 inch CL barrel did.

The LMT bolt is dual ejector which would allow the gun to funtion if you had a blown primer that tac welded the ejector flush with the bolt face.

The LMT is nice for sure, but one day I WILL own a SR-25 ECC! Can't go wrong with either though really.
I bought an LMT MWS recently and really like it....it doesn't seem to have much recoil to me, but I've never shot an SR-25 to compare.
I have a MWS that im going to look to move along, it's a great rifle but the weight is just killing me. I realize what your getting for the weight, I just gave barrel swaps a little to much credit for my needs. Live and learn.
I figured I would post a couple of pictures of the lmt. So far I am very happy with it. I am amazed at how it shoots! Very little recoil, I know the weight helps a lot but shooting it off hand it almost feels like it has less recoil then my LWRC 556. If anyone is thinking about one I highly recommend it. Not that I have an other experience with an ar-10's but it has been great so far!!
I have been playing with optics between a vortex pst ffp 4-16 which was good and now it has a new bushnell xrs 4-30 which is nice for its size. It think the ers bushnell would be ideal on here.
I think I am going to have to get another USO in the lower power and see how that works on here.

Congrats! Both are awesome rifles, and I debated after seeing both in person. I went with the SR-25 ECC and love it, but I think the LMT is a better value.
Those KAC are beautiful rifles. I've sure been happy with my LMT. Shot rifle golf with it against bolt guns, and never felt a disadvantage. It never skips a beat, and they just keep going up in price. Which is nice, if you already own one
My ECC is definitely one of my 2 favorite rifles, however the LMT used to be a much better value. I say used to be because I got one for 2100 when they came out, now I haven't seen one for less than 3500. At that price I would say spring the extra cash for the ECC.
Go with the LMT, yes it's heavier but since you stated you would be using it as a range gun weight shouldn't be an issue. You should be able to pick one up fairly quick on Gun Broker. I am getting sub MOA with the 16" CL barrel use 168g MK. Spend your extra money you save with the LMT on some good glass.
