This young man is Ben Romney, DTA's Sales Orders Processing Officer. His birthday was Wednesday, and we went to the range today for his first foray at a mile with a rifle. Conditions were beautiful with slight overcast, temps in the 50s, and light winds. Range elevation is 5,140 feet.

Geek shot.

What he lacks in experience he more than makes up for with enthusiasm. We warmed up with 7.62 to 1,000, then swapped up to the .338 Lapua.

His first hit at 1,711 yards (measured with a Vectronix PLRF-10) was through the target's left eye. Three more body shots, finishing up with a round through the right thigh.

A really good day on the range, and a happy birthday boy with 1-mile plus bragging rights.
