There is a local gentleman who has one of tees for sale. It looks like a nice rifle but I'm having a hard time finding much in the way of reviews an range reports. Anyone have experience with these? Thanks
I had the pleasure of shooting the SSG-04 in 0.308 to 300 meter and had a 20 rounds lapua 167 grain shoot into a 5.5 cm group the rifle is light but pleasure to shoot only thing I didn't like is that the muzzle brake is not very affective.
bottom line is I really liked it and recommend it with full confidence
I've got the SSG-08 in .308, not many around, and not much love for them on the hide.
Mine shoots consistant .5 MOA with 175 SMK's, Hand loads, FGMM, and even M118LR.
Same rifle, different stock/chassis than the SSG-04
The Steyr Arms SSG69, Kimber 84M LPT, and Ruger Hawkeye Tactical rifle all hit their marks. Picking between them is a matter of choosing which features you must have to shoot only one shot. Steyr Mannlicher US:*Long-Shooter Showdown
"I use a Steyr SSG PII in .308 in 600 and 1000 yard F-Class Tactical Rifle matches near the Gulf in Texas. The only thing special I did to the rifle was put it in a McMillan stock. Using 175 gr. Sierra Match King and 45 gr. of Varget it will shoot consistently 94%. That is hitting a 10 ring (10 inch circle) at 1000 yards 94% of the time with Texas wind. I want to justify blowing more money on a custom rifle but when my SSG shoots under .40 MOA, but why should I?" http://www.snipershide.com/shooting...ccuracy-could-i-expect-steyr.html#post1897508

The Steyr .308 SSG 04 and 08 use the same barrel and virtually the same action (some differences such as a plastic versus aluminum magazine well). Hopefully you will find these reviews useful.
