Has anybody else been charged for items they haven't received, I'm hard headed it took 2 times for me to figure out not to do business with them. First time I placed an order took 5 months and several miss leading email this time its going on 4 months and 3 miss leading emails. In the email in january i was told they would be putting the mags together and shipping after the shot show but today they told me they hadn't received the boxes yet. My question is " How were they going to put them together last month without the boxes". Just a warning folks they may do good work but be prepared to be miss lead and a long long long wait.

he's talking about SSS. It's sad that this is the way they do buisness since they make such high quality products.

If I ever order anything from them I'm going to order it a year early and if I get it earlier than that I'll be happy.

Been there done that. I`ve been told contradicting lies from them myself. I`ve got a Savage / Stevens build going on now & unless I just can`t help it, SSS will not be getting my buisness. Just be honest with your customers and that`ll go along ways.

They were great when I ordered my bolt handles. They kept me informed on the status and called me when they were ready to ship. They never charged my card until the bolts shipped.

I have never dealt with them. I am a Savage guy and will do everything in my power to never have to do business with them. I agree with Merritt it is a fucking shame they do business like they do. Hopefully in the near future us Savage guys have more options.

I orderd a small spring for my hunting accutrigger to adjust it down. Well 2 weeks went by and I heard nothing. That was after phone calls and emails. I finally was on a Savage forum and found that SSS company was online. I shot them a personal message concerting my shipment and whola, I got a email that night saying they had sent it out. Poor CS and I wont be buying anything else from them

I was charged for a stock that they said was going to be an 8-10 week wait. That was 7 months ago. They didn't respond to my last email. Its getting to a point where I'm gonna call my CC company to get my money back.

With you on this one. Ordered a mag 6+ months ago and they charged for it at the time of the order (was ordered via phone and was never told they werent even in stock). So after 2 weeks I emailed them and they said

"It has not been shipped. All orders for the 9rnd high caps are on back order. I am anticipating starting the production run of them @ the end of the month."

Well still waiting (that email was in very early Sept) and getting the usual line every 3 weeks when I write them a email (if they actaully respond without 5 emails from me) saying they are 1-2 weeks out. If I don't get fed up and cancel this order I will certainly not order from them again!

I just ordered one of their savage competition triggers yesterday. I was told that they still need to heat-treat them so it would be about 6 weeks. They did however charge my CC already which I wish they would not have done.

I was able to speak with Lisa and she seemed like a nice lady over the phone.

If I were some of you guys and have been waiting for a unacceptable amount of time I would just call your CC and cancel the order.

The last time I was getting hosed by some asshole I paid in cash and had to get the ATF involved to get my shit back.

I'll keep record of exactly how long it takes to get my trigger and let you guys know how long it takes.

That's their MO. They are nice on the phone, but they lie to you repeatedly. No doubt they lied to you. I've ordered from them twice, and they told me different lies both times. Shit service if you ask me. They will tell you anything to get your card charged, and then you wait and wait.

I've been hosed in the past and I'm not doubting that you guys had problems with thier CS. I pretty much took a risk knowing that they make a great trigger and that I don't NEED it right away. If the wait gets too long I can always call my credit card company and have them cancel the payment. Like I mentioned earlier, I've dealt with asshole in the past and if all I need to do is call my CC company to be made right......thats small beans to me.

I will however keep all you guys posted.

Well I finally said to hell with it and canceled the order. I emailed them last night. They did refund it but didn't even bother emailing me. I'm done with them I will spend the money for someone elses setup.

Thats too bad about SSS. Last summer I ordered a bolt handle and trigger and got both in a timely manner. Couldnt have been more pleased.

Sad to hear others had so much trouble, I would recommend them no question.

my build last year was done in a reasonable amount of time, but I am owed one item (scope base) that is taking an unreasonable effort to get. My guess is a few things are going on. Fred does a lot of shooting so the shop is shut down for that, if you meet up and shoot with him you may go to the front of the line, his wife Lisa takes care of the business end but what she tells you about timeline is not under her control. As stated before the work is good but the running of the business leaves much to be desired. This is an opportunity for other smiths who are willing to specialize in savage work. For some years savage had a reputation as a bare bones line that few would put any $$$ in custom work. That has changed now so there is a considerable backlog of work out there waiting for takers.

+1 on Kevin Rayhill at Stockade Guns. Turn-around time on a new build is slow (but who is fast these days).

Bottom metal is good, and his work is top notch.
As far as SSS goes, everytime I tried to get something done, or a part from them....I was told to send an email. They never followed up. Matter-of-fact, I have still not recieved an email back for a build that I finally had Kevin Rayhill make over two years ago.

I have had good service from both Kevin and SSS on parts. Kevin you can call and talk to... not so much with SSS. For SSS I send an email and don't order till I get a reply with the answers on parts availablility. If they don't have it.. I don't order it. Midway and Brownells sells most of the basic parts for the Savages so I usually get what I need there.

Ordered a 9rnd mag and was charged MAY 2010 and was told it would be a two week lead time. The last email I got was on 2 FEB 2011 :

"We are having the "box" portion mass produced for us.
That has take much longer than the original estimate. (No shit?)

We did received a phone call yesterday that said we would have them next week."

I do not understand how a company stays in business this way. If you don't have the magazines in stock ready to ship DON"T TAKE PEOPLES MONEY. I paid for a 9 round magazine, not your research and development. This was a birthday present from the wife, my next birthday is already coming up. I wish I would have paid with a credit card.

It had been nearly 10 years since my previous dealings with SSS. Back then I bought a competition trigger and one of their then new stocks (a kelvar-fiberglass thumbhole number with a 2.5" wide forend.... looks identical to Stockade's current Elk Stalker model). Service was prompt and I've been pleased with these products since.

For whatever reason I never did replace the bolt handle on this same rifle. Finally got the itch all these years later and e-mailed SSS in early November '10 to be told that they were out of stock but expected to be shipping black tactical bolt handles early in December. So I mailed off my order which resulted in my credit card being charged on 22 November. I was never able to reach Lisa by phone and most e-mails went unanswered. I found if I used a subject line that implied an interest in ordering and a body that queried bolt handle availability, that I'd get an answer. This went on through the later part of January by which time I had both become rather frustrated and had found numerous on line threads about the current state of their customer service. So I fired off a hot e-mail about what I'd found and my lack of appreciation at what had been taking place. To this I received an answer which included a detailed explanation of their BBB ratings and allegations in these threads. I also received a new projected delivery date and a commitment to meet it or refund my monies. Well I in fact did receive the bolt handle on February 3rd and it was as nice as I'd hoped. I e-mailed Lisa to let her know I received it and she responded with an apology about how long things took.

It really is a shame that SSS has adopted practices of charging without shipping in violation of government guidelines which have 30 and 50 day "windows." No question that it is the prime reason for the huge volume of e-mails they receive from customers (something Lisa mentioned indicating she couldn't respond to so many). I won't get into the issues of repeatedly missed projected shipping dates and what that does to customer satisfaction. Bottom line is that while their products appear to still be of high quality, they've brought a whole bunch of bad feelings and extra work on themselves with these practices. Sad situation really.

I ordered a Brux barrel set up for my Savage 10FP on Jan 31st. Was told it would probably be ready to ship early this week. Well, I was reading this thread the past week and starting to worry but my barrel showed up today as promised. Just short of two weeks from time of order.

FYCN the ones I ordered in march I received in July but I finally canceledmy order from October because of the missleading emails. I have found another source. I just can't deal with a company that continually misleads me. If I hear they have improved I might give them another chance but I doubt it.

Had a friend order from them told him all was in stock it took 8 months to get it here. As for parts it get most of them from either Brownells or SWFA fast and dependable.

This is my posting from another post but I thought it would be good to put here as well! Their story has been the same since 3 months in to my order.... that they would be shipping any time.


DO NOT ORDER FROM SSS!! I asked for a refund on my mag that I ordered 7+ months ago and I have had to request that they refund daily for almost a week now with no refund yet! Lisa keeps trying to hold me off by saying

March 28th
" I will gladly do that for ya but just wanted to let you know we are coating them "as we speak".
We will definitely be shipping THIS week.
"

March 29th
" I just want to let you know that we will begin shipping tomorrow.
I will be glad to cancel.
"

Between these 2 emails back was my 2 and 3 request to cancel my order! Been asking daily since the 28th for my refund. They are "Glad to cancel" but doesn't seem to what to cancel my order as requested politly multiple times.

I would not buy anything from them with this poor service. Not to mention at the time of order nothing was said about no mags in stock let along not even being made yet or a multiple month wait!!!!


Want my money back so I can order from deadeye and this is BS what SSS is doing!



PS- More then happy to post the whole email string from Aug of last year if someone is interested to see how many time they claimed the mags where in process and would ship any time.
