I just purchased my first long range rifle. I previously have only owned AR15's, Pistols, and shotguns.
I am starting with a box-fresh AAC-SD with floppity Hogue overmold stock and all. The only thing I have added was the AAC Blackout flash hider for $89.95.
I am ordering a AICS 1.5 stock in OD Green and 2 10 round magazines in the next week or so.
I am likely going to start with a Nikon M308 Scope and upgrade at a later date. The scope being specifically for the .308 round and with the quick turret appeals to me, and you can get an app for it as well. The scope comes with the M223 mount which I will probably toss on my second best AR later.
My main concern at this point is getting a quality 20 MOA picatinny rail and rings.
I see many people go with cheap Weaver or EGW rails and have to modify or bed them to make them useable. I do not want to go this route, I would much rather get good pieces to start with.
I have been looking at the Leupold Mark 4 rail and rings, they are fairly reasonably priced, being able to get the set for about $230.
Does anyone have experience with these, positive or negative? I have been searching the site, but don't seem to be coming up with search results that are relevant.
