Regular old A36 works fine for 22lr. No need for AR500.

I made the above Egg Rack (these are the size of chicken eggs) to use as practice for our annual egg shoot. I just used 1/4" common strap iron that I cut the eggs from. So far the only damage they have suffered is a loss of paint. The grand kids and I burnt up 150 rounds at them a few Saturdays ago.
It is just a 1/2" rod, not threaded. The Cross road is 4' long and the pieces of PVC are 7" to space the swingers apart. I used 1/4"x1" x 12" long flat iron for the hangers. As you can see they are welded on the back of the eggs on edge so only the 1/4" width is visible to the shooter. A 9/16" hole is drilled towards the top for the cross road to slip through.
