Rifle Scopes Steiner Military 3–15x50

I hadn't come across the Steiner Military 3–15x50 before. I'm guessing it's a new scope, essentially a scaled-down version of their 5–25x56. Same dual-turn indicator and option for the MSR reticle, which I like a lot. It could be a good match for my .308 bolt gun. Any word on availability & pricing?

I believe steiner is going 5X erector on all their new upcoming tactical models. This one may be just the first of the new ones, not sure which one it will end up replacing though but if I had to guess I'd say it would be the 3-12's.

I will definitely own one of these, I have the 4-16 Gen II MD and the 5-25 MSR, the 3-15 MSR will go great on a gas gun or .308 bolt gun. I hope pricing is still the same as the 3-12 model.

I had a chance to play with the one of the 3x-15x scopes yesterday. They changed the clickers in the turrets and they are really nice. More tactile than on the 5x-25x. Other than that you can't really tell the difference between it and the 5-25.

The pop up indicator is really trick. As well the MSR is now my favorite reticle. You can't loose with that optic.

The are bright, clear, bombproof, well-made, and MSR retical available. Best second turn turret in the industry. 4-16s on the 260s, 1-4s on the ARs, and 5-25 on the 338LP.

I am looking at getting the 5x25 for my 260 comp gun. My questions is the reticle too crowded or what do you think of the reticle. I like the idea of .1 mil stadia for ranging.

I'm running the 5-25 MSR on my 6mm for competition. I don't have a bunch of rounds on it yet but I love the reticle. I have never found the reticle to busy. I almost forget the two ranging reticles are even there. I like the floating crosshair being a mil in length instead of 1.8 on the P4. Holding for wind has really been simplified.

After playing with it a bit on top of sub-moa 7.62 AR, I like it a lot. Same user interface as 5-25 has- big knobs as all grown up men with sausage fingers should have.

What I like most is that its true long range scope with all bells and whistles but in compact package. 15x gets job done still beeing enough for milling with MSR or precision shooting.

Very refreshing newbie, especially for DM -type semi-auto sticks or other 1000m systems IMO. Tired carrying Hubbles especially because mirage tends to limit magnification at around 15x anyway.

I have the 1-4 as well and am highly impressed with the glass. Not to get off topic here, but the battery for illumination, has had to be changed out twice in 6 months after only a cumulative 1 hour or so of illumination (BTW, I store it in off position).

I'll ask the guys, but, my thoughts are "that sucker is BRIGHT" and I'm sure that comes at a cost to battery life. Since it is a military scope, designed for such, there is not automatic shut-off. I just received my 1-4s remind me to post if I experience the same. The batteries CR2032 are, relatively, cheap. Glad to hear you like the scope!

I have over 600 rounds through a 5x25 with the MSR recticle and love it. It is not crowded at all. The .1 ranging and the quick ranging grids are close to center but they are not in the way. I just shot TPRC using it and no problem what so ever.

Both milling "L" and stadia are kept near center because optical resolution is always best there.

I can't wait to hear the details on the 3-15x50. If a comparison to the NF F1 could be made that would be very helpful (MSR vs MLR2 evaluation w/pics, knobs, zero stop... most of us can't get to a shop to play with them). As for the Steiner web site, info provided is very scant. The marketing department needs a little motivation to provide better specs and, well... marketing

Both should be available, as 5-25 comes CW and CCW. 3-15 I tried was CW.

All Steiners stocked in the US are CCW, but, I believe you can special order CW.

The turrets on the latter are not quite right so I have twice emailed Steiner's warranty department in Greeley, Co and have not heard anything back from them--it has been about four or five days. I love their hardware but so far I am not impressed with their warranty department and for me this is a big issue. I have also tried calling them twice and after being on hold for about ten minutes each time, I gave up.

So, Steiner has a little bit of work to do in this department but they are otherwise top shelf. Perhaps they are operating under a "holiday lull" as we move from Thanksgiving into Christmas . . .

I've used the warranty dept and PM'd Steiner Optics here and have always been treated well. The people at steiner were very quick to perform repairs/replacements not to mention were very friendly and knowledgeable on the phone. Seems very odd this happened to you. Personally I'd rate their customer service and warranty service nearly the equal with Vortex.

Well folks, it's time I give an update on the above discussion. I did not get through to the Steiner warranty department by conventional methods so I talked to "Steiner Optics" here on the Hide and allow me to backfill the audience. He (Martin) sent me a shipping label and about a week and a half after I shipped him my scope, he called me to discuss the issue. The repair crew attempted to make the repair several times and were not satisfied with the result so he shipped me a new scope which arrived in about four days.

I love my high end optics and I am always in the market to buy a new one. I'll even build a new rifle just for an excuse to buy a new optic. As loyal as I am to G. Loomis fishing rods, I am now equally loyal to Steiner. Not only is their quality top of the line, with a warranty of this caliber, it will be hard to convince me to try any other company's product.
