You got a tactical 40x conversion? We all want to see this rifle broke down and what makes it different with a shit-ton of photo's. I been in on this Dream build for years now. Not interested in Tac- Rifle but rather a sporter repeater. Have a heavy sporter getting a new 6-groove now with a eps chamber.

Has anyone ever got a 40x converted rifle yet to yer knowledge? I have a library of conversions that smiths have done with all kind parts (win, cz, kimber). Got the bottom parts from the Rem custom shop for a reapeater as well.

Will wait for a full review of what you get with photo's. They will tell all.

Glad yer card was hit and you should have blued steel soon.

Very good then. I will be one interested Dirt Soldier. Be sure to give a us a pictorial review with target, ammo data. I may post my new sporter when it comes out the lathe.

Yes sir, getting the repeater conversion. Received tracking number yesterday.

Will do a thorough review once i receive.

Regards,
DT

Probably could but I am not sure if I'd be the one to cut a hole in a $1200-1300 new receiver. Little different when you a have a wall locker full of $300-400 complete rifles and parts guns.

You coming to the match this Saturday? It will be the last one on the 425 yard range. Starting next month we move up to the 600.

Leaving for OPPS Shoot for the Green tomor morn. So Im gonna miss your match. Will see ya next month for the NSSF Rimfire Challenge though.

If you get it before this weekend, bring it with you to this weekends match. I'll supply the ammo!

I wish. I leaving tomor morning. Package to arrive tomor afternoon. Dam it.

Will post pics when I return.

Regards,
DT

Glad to see something is coming out of the shop up there, still waiting on my prepaid conversion.

OK Brother

Now what makes it Tic. Extractor and left extractor guide closeups. Did they cut the ramp like on the Rem sporter and leave it to kick the shell out or have a stop on the back of their magazine?
A close up of the bolt and chamber from a few angles will tell us. Just curious as i have seen many smithed 40x repeaters and would loved to see this one as well in detail. As you two get aquainted with one another please shed some light for us. Only been about 4yrs so you can see we are chompin!

Mike
I have been calling this week each afternoon. Left voicemails on your office line for either of you or Michelle to call

My email is [email protected]

Thanks for the info John. Michelle is no longer with BlackOps and as a result, we're forced to make a few "adjustments." Have you been calling the shop phone, or the number that Michelle answered?

I just responded to your email.

The shop # on M-W this week rang and then abruptly disconnects - as if answering machine is full. The other # the voicemail was functional until this past weekend and is where I left a few messages.

The website phone number is the one I reference as the shop number.

Glad you got your PM box corrected as well

John

Thanks for the info John....the phone issue should be resolved as well.

UPDATE:

The first run of 40X Repeater Conversions (Tactical) have been shipped, and at this point, I can declare success with this system. We have more conversions to do and we're building numerous RAVAGE packages using the 40X as the donor action.

Delivery times on the conversions are down to about three weeks and we're running more magazines this week. We have a fresh order of 22 barrels in from Krieger and we're spooling up to turn out more Rimfire packages.

Thanks guys and I've realized what a crazy (in a devoted way) group the Rimfire shooters are. I appreciate the crowd and will continue to offer what helps the Rimfire community grow.

Thanks Guys....

Thank you.

When you finish it, can you post some information for the consumer (me) that is interested in a high quality trainer - and compare and contrast some of the differences between the 605 and a 40x action?

Also since I shoot an AW - can this go into a AI chassis?

TIA

Sure will, after all the time, energy and $$$$ spent in making this happen, the fanfare will be pretty significant. The Model 605 will fit an AICS Chassis and the Magazine plugs right in.

How about the 40X Sporter conversion?

With everything we're working on now, the SPORTER Conversion will take a bit longer. We're making Centerfire Receivers (hunting weight configuration) now and will be running bolts starting next week. The Rimfire Actions are in production, as are our DBMs and NV Mounts and we're building 1911s and doing the 40X Rimfire Conversions. The Precision Weight Centerfire Receivers will be in production next month.

I'll keep everyone posted on the SPORTER Conversion.

Pricing Update for the 40X Repeater Conversion:

We're now replacing the factory Bolt Nose, Firing Pin and Extractors with our own components. This keeps us from re-machining the factory components, which reduces overall costs and it allows us faster delivery times for the conversions.

The cost of the conversion, which includes the machining of the receiver (cutting the mag opening), supplying the BlackOps Bolt Nose, Firing Pin and Extractors is $597 (price dropped from $650). We make these components in runs of at least 50, so the parts are on-hand.

We'll still continue to make the Ejector out of the Factory Shell Platform.

If we re-barrel the action, there's an additional cost for "Blueprinting" the receiver and turning, threading, chambering and crowning the barrel.

Magazines are $38 each.

Mike, just curious as to when you realistically think you will be rolling out full on Ravage rifles with the 605 action, specifically for us that ordered in september/october? I hope I'm not coming across the wrong way here, not trying to be a dick, just trying to get a idea on timeline. Thanks.

A completely justifiable question Jay and taken on this end with humility. Initially, orders were taken for the RAVAGE based on what I was told by the company that used to make BlackOps Precision actions. Unfortunately, I relieved them of their duties and we're now making actions in-house (as well as our other components) and unfortunately, this had slowed us down a bit more.

The first of the Centerfire actions will be available by the end of May, and the Rimfire actions are running pretty close to parallel to Centerfire production. Bringing production in-house was necessary to offer Custom Actions that are manufactured to the standards that others only claim to deliver.

I realize this is unfortunate for those that have been waiting, but I just couldn't continue to repair every "Custom" action I received (no different than truing a Remington 700). The actions we deliver will be accompanied by a Certificate of Conformance (C of C) that certifies the features in the receiver and bolt are well within the BlackOps specs and tolerances. We will measure every receiver and bolt with a Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). This is an incredibly accurate metrology tool that sets you back $750,000. I can't speak for every other action maker, but I certainly know of one that doesn't measure anything they make, hence the gross variations in their product.

Another change is that I've dismissed the "help" in the front office. In the past, I spoke to every customer and answered every email and I'll be doing so again, along with Colton. Anyone having any questions or concerns can email me at [email protected]. The email [email protected] no longer exists. I can also be reached at the shop at 406-892-1850.

Thanks for asking the question Jay.

This 605 deal in getting old. I suggest everyone wait for the new Stiller repeater. It is base off of the 52 action. How long have we all been waiting for a price and pics of the 605. I could be wrong but i think the 605 has been promised to be built to long. This deal started long ago with a deliver date of a few months. Still no price or pics. Just more talk of later pics and deliver dates.

Don't wait for the 605 then? Nobody is forcing you too. I think there is a reason that we all haven't jumped ship yet thou.

Excellent statements. Relieving under performers from their duties both internal and from vendors is never an easy task. Addressing and being frank about the realities of being a business owner in a public forum is commendable.

The truth hurts sometimes but honesty and humility heals.

Mike,

I just wanted to say publically that I think you are handling this correctly. After hearing this I fully understand the delay and actually it makes me want a 605 build more. I have a soft spot for people who accept no compromise. I know first hand that it only makes your life harder but is well worth it in the long run. Well done sir...

I couldn't agree more. I'm waiting on my Ravage build with great anticipation.

Mike helped me out with another project this year and his and Colton's assistance were greatly appreciated.

I too am happy to wait for my build.

Youre right Nesika, it has gotten old and I've lived it every day for the last 3 1/2 years, but we haven't quit. I have hundreds of thousands tied up in a project that I've promised to deliver and we're going to deliver it. If you compare this project to those embarked upon by larger companies, we've come farther in less time with a lot less resources and dealt with far more adversity, and we have a much better solution. The industry is wrought with design failures and compromises, and we could have compromised a long time ago, but that's not what we do.

Anyone can copy the work of others, but we designed our own. I have just over $75k tied up in just making magazines instead of using the same stuff that everyone else uses just because its easier and cheaper....and the other companies then somehow convince the community to buy cheaper/easier when the consumer already knows its not what he/she really wants.

Don't forget that others have promised to deliver a Rimfire repeater much longer ago than I have and never made an attempt to deliver anything but single shots because they couldn't figure out the magazine problem. Our magazine plugs into any DBM that accepts an AICS or AW (308) magazine. How many 40X Repeaters have you seen come from Remington? Did we make the Remington 40X Single Shot work reliably as a repeater with our own magazine and truly offer a full scale trainer (our now patented design)?

Yes, this has taken a long time, but I will not take short cuts and dump garbage into the industry. Use our DBM as an example....pretty simple device and a lot of companies make them, but I engineered features that others don't have. We're the only ones to deliver a solution for the noise discipline problem (magazines that rattle). As well, all of our actions have features that no one else has and we'll provide a Certificate of Conformance with every action....No short cuts....

Thanks for your comments Nesika....I truly understand the frustration....Generally, and in this case, the basis of frustration is passion. I realize everyone has followed this project passionately, and we have pursued it with the same level of passion.

Thanks for the update, being a black ops customer I know first hand the quality of your work and I wait patiently for my rimfire package. Continue to keep us in the loop.

Thanks Noe and will do. I'll be posting regular updates here as we move forward.

Thanks again and let me know if you need anything.

Does it happen faster if we bitch? Or is it that your a stake holder in the FREE enterprise that is about to bring this to market?

Watch for the door as you step out.....

"I have a soft spot for people who accept no compromise." jbell this is so well stated and thank you for that! "I have a soft spot for people who accept no compromise" could be repeated over and over and I would not grow old of hearing it. I do see a place lesser quality products it's just not for me if I can afford otherwise. Mike thank you again for stepping up to the plate!

I appreciate the comments Bill and your (as well as quite a few others on this site: Bucky, JBell, JSTARZ, Icallem, Monchichi and countless others that I don't have room to mention) steadfast acceptance for our approach. We do not and will not compromise what and how we do what we do. We'll continue to hand build every rifle and pistol and we'll take no short cuts in how we design our products.

Thanks again....
