Ordered Spigot and Spray Paint ... hopefully will arive this week to allow me to start on my project.

Going to spray 3 colour digital on the stock of my Steyr SSG 69, install front spigot for Versa Pod Bipod and make a bespoke cheek piece for the rifle.

Will get pics up of the stages etc for all you Steyr lovers

Re: Steyr SSG Project

well i came to the conclusion that the Mc Millan is a bit expensive for me at the minute.

So i thought what i could do to give the Steyr a little face lift / put my own stamp on it.

Should look good when i have it all sprayed up etc, dont know if i will touch the scope or barrel.

Debating getting it screw cut and a muzzle brake for it .... would look pretty good i think.

Shame i cant fit a picatiny rail to it. Not tapped you see.

It does NOT need to be "tapped" because there are picatinny rail sections that will mount right up in the t-rail that is built into your stock's forend. Several companies make the Anschutz/T-rail to Picatinny rail adapters. Not sure about shipping them across the pond to N. Ireland/UK, but check with Kasey at Accu-Shot about their AFAR kit to see if it will work and/or search around to see what might be available in your neck of the woods. I am sure someone in Europe is making an adapter rail to put a picatinny in your T-rail.

Re: Steyr SSG Project

You mean like this one (no drilling/tapping required...just four set screws after you get the rail installed which does take some SERIOUS effort given the ultra-tight fit...but that's necessary given the nature of the mount):

Also, other companies make picatinny rails for the SSG 69 that will require you to have your receiver drilled and tapped, but to me, to have that done is basically a necessity if you want a canted base and the most rigid mounting platform possible. I know you have quality smiths across the pond...certainly a drill/tap job on your receiver isn't THAT big a deal.

Re: Steyr SSG Project

yeah i'm debating sending it away and getting this done. Means i can use QD mounts, to allow to take scope off easily also would allow me to use a 20moa base.

I currently use Apel Mounts but would love a one piece moutning system!

I must look into sending it away.
