STI Eagle 5.1 - how much is it worth?

Hey guys, I didnt know where to post this... so it ended up here... sorry.

I have someone trying to trade me an STI in on something that I have. It is a 40 caliber and he says it is like new... 50 rounds fired or so. It has a black slide and a silver colored frame. It looks pretty nice. Its called the eagle 5.1 or something. I know nothing about 1911's and he said he paid 1900 for it new... and that its worth about 1,300-1,400.

So is that true? how rare are they? good quality? thanks alot for the help and sorry for my ignorance.

STI's are great. Quality is top notch too. The Eagle, like the Edge, and others are factory pistols. Granted, they don't build as many as Glock but are available online. Your garden variety gun store normally doesn't stock them.

Dawson Precision sells the Eagles for $1749 (5.0) to $1844(6.0). How many mags come with it? A tuned set of four mags will set you back around $430.

BTW, the factory Eagles don't have a silver frame. Could have been built from a frame kit with the Eagle slide.

Are you sure they dont have a silver frame? I just called them and he said that they offered some kind of hard chrome or something... I will ask the guy im dealing with. thanks for the heads up.

the frame could be hard chromed, more than likely it is but usually you get the entire gun hard chromed.

Hard chroming is offered as a factory option.

If you get the serial number they will tell you what options it came with originally.

That being said I may be interested in buying the Eagle from you if you can get some specifics on it.


I saw one sell yesterday for 1100 with no mags. Budsgunshop had one with 5 mags for 1500 sell a few months back.



Most of the guys who run these do so for competition the finish probably doesn't effect the price very much either way just so long as its in good shape overall.

all have these them in stock. Not run of the mill gun shop rare but they are factory production guns that are readily available.

Sorry I didn't explain my comment completely. I didn't mean to imply that something was amiss or not on the up and up. Like others have pointed out, hard chroming is a factory option.

Nice looking pistol. From the pic, it looks a lot like hard chrome to me. Adam is right that most folks have the whole thing done. I've seen a few like this where the owner wanted a two-tone look too.

The guys just replied and said it is a factory finish. He said he bought it about 7 years ago, put 50 rounds through it and it has been sitting in the safe ever since. hopefully the deal works out.

You will love this pistol. If you're like me you will then find yourself trying to justify the possibility that you might need another one.

I use a CR Speed for mine in USPSA. Picked up a kydex for multi gun last week but haven't practiced with it yet.

$1200 tops. The Eagle 5.1 is no longer made. It is called the Eagle 5.0 now. Without mags, a used gun won't bring $1500.

It has two mags... and he is giving me 100 bucks on top of the deal. this is trade for a sig 556 swat with no front light on the rail... i think i got a good trade... what do yall think?
