STI Tactical Rifle

Re: STI Tactical Rifle

I have seen one in person, but not had the ability to shoot one. As with all STI products, they seem very well-built, use only quality components and appear to be a bargain at around $1200. I have read a couple of reviews on them (after seeing one first-hand) and it seems as though reliability was good and accuracy was acceptable (sub-1.5MOA with decent ammo).

I guess it all comes down to what your budget for an AR might be and what your plans are for it once in hand.

There are other, cheaper options out there that would serve as quality, reliable, semi-auto 5.56 rifles for less money, but none off hand that I can think of with the feature set of the STI (JP Trigger group, etc.).

You should also have a look at Rock River Arms. They build a solid AR-15 platform rifle with a lot of popular features, quality components for a good price. They are always having sales on one model or another. You may want to look over their website and see if anything strikes your interest. You will likely find a complete AR-15, depending on options, for well under $1k. With the free-float handguard, 2-stage NM trigger, etc., you are looking at around $1k to $1100 from RRA.

Again, that is just one company worthy of your consideration. Without knowing your intended use for the rifle (other than "a decent SA rifle that [you] won't have to dump alot of money into") it is hard to give you a specific list of rifles out there that would meet your needs.

Re: STI Tactical Rifle

I have one of the first ones that came out. #69 to be exact.

I have been very happy with it.

Shoots MOA or less with almost all bullets and under that if I use quality bullets like Sierra Matchkings or Nosler Ballistic Tips.

The little Nordic comp is pretty good, but I did stick a SF on there after a while.

They put in a JP trigger, but not the JP hammer. Caught me off guard. No big deal. I mainly use the lower on my 22 upper for 3-gun practice.
