After shooting a 308 past 2 years, and collecting components, I have my build finally done.
Reamer: 260 Remington Tactical
Barrel chambered and screwed together by Chad Dixon here on the hide. Will tell you how he did once I choot it, but I will tell you his turn around time is amazing, and his prices are competitive.
Action: Tac30AW
From the Stiller Group Buy of '10, this action so far looks and feels as good as any I have handled. Smooth, and cut for the AW double stack mags, I hope to have a winner here.
Barrel: Brux 1:8.5 M40 Countour finished at 26" Threaded 5/8-24
Picked this up from a hide vendor awhile back. Its a 4-groove and I cant wait to see if the 5R hype is just a sales scam (lol - I big advocate of quality barrel smith over number of grooves). It is cut-rifled however, and I do believe those to be a better barrel, but prob falls into the number of grooves conspiracy.
Stock: KMW Sentinel - 40% Light Blus, 30% Red, 30% White
As I am not black rifle guy, I wanted something a little different from the standard camo. Since I sold my previous Sentinel to a member here on the hide, who needed it a little more than I did, I was able to order one back in late September, '11. These stocks can be ordered with any of the Mcmillion (yes I know its spelled incorrectly, I saw this spelling in another thread and thought it was pretty funny) color schemes. I wanted something a little patriotic, so I with the colors of our flag. Wish it had a little more red and white, but overall, I like. The cheek piece to the forearm to the bottom metal are perfect. I esp like the mag release and the option of attaching a rail to the forearm if you need it.
Trigger: Huber 2-stage set at 1 lb 10 oz
Rings: Seekins lows (1" I believe)
Scope: Schmidt & Bender 3-20 with H2CMR Rect
See here for review. http://www.snipershide.com/forum/ubbthre...632#Post3321632
Liking it more and more everyday.
Bipod: Current is a Harris, going to get an Atlas on next trip to Mile High Shoting.
Suppressor: TBAC 30P1
Now Some pics. Were taken with a D5100 and 35mm 1:1.8G DX Lens:
I really like this pic. I wwas able to play with the shutter speed and get a shot that focused on the knobs.
After getting everything mounted up, I do not like the thick front scope ring as it is all the way forward, and there is no room for extra adjustment. Luckily, that position happened to be perfect.
You may also notice the action/barrel sitting a little high. WHen I ordered the stock, it came contoured for the wrong barrel. I have to mill it out for final fitment. Irritating, but not the end of the world.
And yes, it never ends
Regards,
DT
