For now I’ll bank the check, might as well keep a war chest in these uncertain times. When all this BS is looking better and I’ve brought back my furloughed team I’ll pay off my wife’s SUV with the first check. After the SUV, I may splurge on a mid range LVPO (1-6 or 1-8 maybe) for one of my AR’s.
Play money wise, I sold some extraneous guns/optics/accessories in the past couple weeks and have been spending some of my sale spoils. In the past couple weeks I ordered a Modlite PLHv2, Trijicon MRO green dot, Magpul pro buis, G19 threaded barrel, and a few other things to finish projects. I may buy a couple of Trijicon RMR type 2 to upgrade from my current Burris Fastfire setups on a G40 and Saiga 12. Things seem to be selling well on here or ar15.com EE if priced fairly. I think many people are stuck at home bored and want to buy toys to pass the time.

Not really,... look into who gets the biggest amounts. The sheep get but crumbs, compared to the real thief's.

In my neck of the woods we are going to have a run on pawn shop guns, tattoo parlors, buy here pay here car lots, and a whole lot of unnecessary bullshit. When people get cash in hand the go and spend it on wants not needs. Then they are the first ones on the news crying because with the virus over they are getting evicted for being 3 months behind on rent.

No stimulus check coming here. If you think about it, the stimulus deal is just another wealth redistribution scheme, yet again fucking the successful, who have worked hard, saved and taken the risks to be insulated from all this bullshit.
Does no one keep three months salary (minimum) in savings anymore?
This is like forgiving student loan debt. I get fucked because I saved and prepared for days like this, and those that didn't (and possibly couldn't), get a check. Someone wanna explain how that fits the free market, or the independence and freedom to be successful (or fail) based on your own responsibility and merits?

I was talking to one of my wealthy buddies about how we are getting raped by the USG because we make too much (47% overall in taxes).
He told me that our mistake is that we are not setup using multiple nested corporations. In doing so, he pretty much doesn't pay more than about 10% in tax across the board.
Little hard given that we are both W2 employees. One year, a rare year, we made, hold on to your hats, $680,000. We paid a little over $320,000 in overall taxes.
Let that sink in... you bust your ass to do well... take years to get to a certain point, and the USG/SG take ~50% of what you make.
Granted, we're obviously doing well... that's not the issue.

I would assume that rare or not, you are in the top 1% of wage earners. People like you generally have a good tax attorney/accountant to provide a myriad of shelters and investment vehicles that people like me can't get.

2. if you have your pants around your ankles, because you failed to be ready for something like this, you best use it to get yourself closer to being up to speed. if this is you, you are already behind the 8ball, but the longer you wait, the deeper you are going to get penetrated.
3. it is my opinion, they are on the way to crashing the dollar, and trying to make it worthless. then what? what will the cash we have be worth then? it wont even make good ass wipe. hopefully i am wrong, but i’ve lived to witness so much i always thought was impossible....but yet....there it is right before all our eyes.
4. check aside, try to get right with God. i am not a preachy type. but now more than ever, having faith and seeking His guidance is more important that ever. i believe He has blessed this nation for a reason, and we will certainly need His guidance to find our way out of this.

Oddly... and surprisingly, we're not even close to the 1%. Yeah, let that sink it. (I said that once and my wife, the smarter of us, corrected that immediately.)
The reason we did so "well" that year is that the company my wife worked for downsized and bought her out of her pension... which then became income.
Due to whatever federal regulations, it could not be spun into some other plan without getting shafted on taxes.
However, in other years, where we've done well, but nowhere near that, it's still about the same tax rate. If two of you make about 150k each, you're still hosed. Yeah, you're still doing exceptionally well compared to most... but it's barely covering costs if you live in most metro areas.

$425K is the US threshold for being in the top 1%. However, it obviously is an average and depending on where you reside, it may not be the case. I know in CT, the number is $700K. I am sure in CA, NYC and DC, it is even more. That is why I like my gig of working for a San Fran company and living in RI...laughing all the way to the bank

I retired at a State employee and went to work for a pretty massive tech firm. So that gave me a real income... Wife unit, she just falls into cash as a matter of a hard work, and ridiculous luck. We're both first generation Americans and bust our asses... it took a long time to get here.
Problem appears to be that there is very little you can actually defer or not pay. There are not a huge number of loop holes... aside from the nest corporations and such. Unfortunately, we are still, technically, upper middle class... and it does appear that the wide range that is the middle class is getting shafted.
you are wrong. they take more than 47%. what you are forgetting, is that when you die, the death tax kicks in. so anything you saved, or your estate, gets taxed again. so when it’s all said and done, they take closer to 75% of what you’ve made in your life.

Add to the fact that our kid is autistic... semi-verbal... (pretty smart, but not going ot be able to take care of himself).... and then you get more aggravated.

As a couple, estate tax now only applies if you’re over $11580000. Probably not an issue Any more.
Gold, Silver, or anything that you can barter with down the road would be a better choice.

Yeah...they love my wife and they love my culinary creations so they live with knowing my beliefs. It is one of those 500 pound guerrillas in the room things. Don't talk about it in a social situation...period....end of story. Especially when it is in my house.

Next up.....Nationwide lockdown to curb diabetes....we should be having a Nationwide "get out of your house" stimulus package to curb obesity where no obese person can eat at fast food places, can have no soft drinks, can have no doughnuts, etc etc....all that should work great as long as people were given stimulus checks right????
