Stock issue! Need ADVICE with Manners purchase

Guys
I have a stock remmy 5r barreled action

I have a chance to purchase a { Nice Used Manners T5A stock}
Its was bedded for a surgeon 591 action


Now:
Ive read that they both have the same footprint,,,So Im good there

But..The barrel channel is quite a bit Wider than my barrel

My Barrel is roughly .88 and 1.14 near the recoil lug

Now

The barrel channel in the stock measures
1.47 near the recoil lug and roughly 1.18 on the end

Now ... I can build up the channel with bedding correct?

You can but it won't hurt anything having a little more room around the barrel especially if you plan on rebarreling later with a heavier barrel. The only thing is it might get debris down in there but performance wise it's just super free floated LOL I would do a skim bed in the chamber area infront of the recoil lug which is bedded now so you have the support there.

has anyone done a job like this?
I know the surgeon and r 700 are very close
The smith wants $280 to do the job
Im wondering if its too much for me to tackle???
