Re: stock oil?
I use tru-oil to refinish stocks getting a satin finish. I I use Orange Oil at the shop daily for wiping down stocks.
and just in case anyone needs to refinish a stock, here's my method:
I learned a trick to a quick finish with tru-oil that doesn't take so long for it to dry. Spray a fine mist of ArmorAll on a small section of the stock and as you start rubbing the tru-oil on, the ArmorAll acts as a drying agent. Don't let the ArmorAll get too thick or run, if it does just grab a paper towel and wipe it off. you just need a light mist coat.
You can get a dozen coats on a stock in just a couple of hours using this method. after the stock is completely finished, i'll hit it every few months with some orange oil. The orange oil really moisturizesthe wood and it smells great.
