I have a rifle with the AICS 2.0 and am looking for a stock pack similar to an eagle. I recall a stock in the for sale section that had a unique stock pack and am looking for anyone who knows who made either it or another suitable one. Thanks.

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

I have the first batch of Extra Large Stock Packs™ in stock now. They were developed by Triad Tactical, and are designed for use on larger stocks like the "A" series from McM, AI stocks, Manners and various others. They are longer on the sides, have longer adjustment straps and the pouch is larger. I will try to get the photos and info up on the site and here on SH tomorrow.

Any chance of hybridizing the redtac gear attachment setup (ammo management system) with your new magazine pouches for the AICS? Would be a great way to carry two extra mags for matches. Just a thought.

Any pics for the pack?
Thanks!

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

My buddy makes these. It fits a mag, doesn't interfere with the cheekpeice and has a little windowed area for your data card.

dang man, $60?

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

If you don't think the price is reasonable, let him know.

Two things to consider.

1. This is an AI specific pack. Kinda a small market.

2. He makes all his stuff by himself. (Economy of scales.)

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

I would have to use one before I could say it is worth it or not. But yeah, he doesn't have any competition with it so far. It looks good though which is why I went to the website to check it out.

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

Guys,
I spoke to the owner of SKT Industries for over 30 minutes yesterday.
He seems like a very cool guy.
I made sure to invite him over here and also warned him about the Texas Cool Aid.

I detect jealousy! lol

No one pooh-poohs you or Tac Ready, you both make good gear. In fact Dave donated a bunch of stuff for the last build I did and the rifle owner and I used the hell out of it to positive reviews. I perked up on this one because you could store gear in the pouch easier than a AICS mag pouch. I didn't order one because I use Kasey's Accushot as a back up and the strap along the bottom may not give enough clearance for it to fold up properly. I think it has the potential to be very beneficial.

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

CKA,
totally agreed.
FWIW I was not poo pooing anyones gear.......not my style.
It also seems like guys are using the larger screws for the cheek piece so that pack might have to be adjusted or ____?_____ not honestly sure since I have not seen one in person.

Happy Turkey Day guys,
Stu

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

SKT definitely has a nice approach to the problem. I have prototyped several solutions specifically for the AICS stocks, but none quite seemed worthy of putting out there.

The SKT product will still raise the effective height of the adjustable cheek-piece due to the material running under it just as our Mag Pack does by going over it. There is also the problem of interfering with the rear sling attachment point, but its hard to see from the photos whether its unencumbered. Also curious if a ten round magazine will go into the pouch or just a five rounder.

All up, it looks like a good design, and we all know there is rarely a perfect design, trade-offs are usually the order of the day.

Tacticalrifleman, if you are still evaluating options our Mag Pack product might work for you, but you will need to cut a small slit in the side to allow the rear sling attachment point to stick through. Sorry I don't have any pics of this simple modification but I know there are Hide members that have done this, maybe one will post some pics.

Best,
David

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

The SKT stock pack raises it such a minimal amount that it's not even noticeable. I can use an HK sling hook with no real issues. (A later revision has even better clearance.) Pouch easily holds a 10rd 308 AICS mag. I'm pretty sure it was made to fit even larger mags.

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

I used it with that monopod. Should work fine and lock up right. This was with the quick knob. (Which looks like it offers less clearance than the standard.)

I wish I could use my Accushot monopod, but I can't find a bolt long enough to use it with my extra LOP spacers. (Oh well)

Just take the bolt and go up to the hardware store. I picked up a longer bolt which fits perfectly, just is shiny stainless which doesn't matter as it is unexposed in the stock.

Really? From the photos it looked like the ladder lock (a technical term for a part that I looked up just so that I could refer to it!) went exactly where the monopod is installed. But I guess if you can put the strap about an inch further forward it should work, especially if there's clearance.

Heck, I may have to buy one to find out. I've been wanting an AMS that can hold 22LR, but apparently that's impossible. A bag can hold plenty of rimfire ammo!

Edit: thinking about this some more, I guess you can't really get to the thumb-screws any more after installing this thing, right? Or are there holes in the bag part to accommodate them?

I did this to use the extra spacer I made, but the only long bolts I could find anywhere had only 1.5" of thread on them. Seems that when they get over a certain size they don't thread the entire shaft. In order to use the Accushot, I'm pretty sure I need a bolt that's at least 1/2" longer and it would have to be threaded more. I think I might be able to get the right size from McMaster Carr, but I haven't done the math to see which length I need.

The plastic ladder is where the monopod folds up, but there was enough clearance for the monopod to fold up and lock into place.

My buddy was putting holes for access to the cheek riser screws at one persons request. Not sure if he is doing it standard. That should work with the thumb screws. The pouch is big enough that hopefully it would fit a with the thumbscrews in place. I never really messed with the thumb screws since I have only had 2.0 stocks and just set my cheekpiece and forget it.

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

I finally got mine in from Scott (SKT). I asked him to punch holes in the side-wall inside the pocket to accomodate thumb-screws. It doesn't interfere with the monopod at all. And I have to say, it's exactly what I was hoping for for my 40X trainer set-up.

With the pocket now I can just dump a bunch of 22LR shells inside and plink away! Good stuff!

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

I got one and really like it so far! Great guy to talk to also. The cheek rest screw holes should be standard but I had to punch my own. The rear HK hook rubs on the data card holder window and I am sure will be a problem some time in the future (even set as far forward as possible), but it still seems like the best option out there. Even for $60! IMO for $60 the minor details should be taken care of! Still quite pleases with it.

how well will it work with the factory AI butt spike?

Re: Stock pack for AICS 2.0

Quick question for anyone with the SKT stock pack...

Before i pull the trigger on purchasing one of these can anyone tell me if they can fit ammo holders like the ones that come with factory ammo, if these can inside the pouch.

And if so a pic would be very much appreciated.

I load my rounds longer than mag lenth, so this would be of more use to me if they can hold something other than AI mags

Digging up an old thread, but considering one of these SKT pouches... assuming they are still available.

Are the holes for the thumbscrews standard now, or do I need to ask for them?

Does anyone know how they will fit: (a) an AW-spec 10rd .308 magazines? (b) .223 10-rd Polymer magazines?

Thanks.

Scott

Hey Shady Jay,
I am looking for a data holder for my AICS stock and want to see if I can buy one that your friend makes, I saw the thread for it and I thinks an awesome piece. I need it to hold a 10 round AI mag.
