Stock packs

In the market for a new cheek rest/pack any suggestions? I have been looking at triad tactical and midway usa house brands and was wondering if anybody has any first hand opinions on these or other suggestions.

I have one Eagle in OD and two of Triad's own stock packs, also OD, bought at Triad. Both are really nice and GTG.

I run the Tac-ops packs... Very well built, fit everything I have tried them on... Most I get from Brownells as there normally in stock.

Will the Tac Ops one fit a Manners T-5A? I have an eagle, & the straps don't angle quite right for a good fit. Will 300WM rnds fit in the shell loops?

Provided that you order the optional "LONG STRAPS" with the Tac Ops Stock Pack, a Tac Ops Stock Pack will fit the Manners T-5A. Tac Ops is the only Stock Pack manufacturer that I know of that takes the "taller" buttstocks of tactical stocks such as the McMillan A4, A5, and A3-5 as well as the Manners T4 and T5 stocks into account and offers extra-length straps to accomodate them. However, YOU WILL NEED TO ORDER THE STOCK PACK DIRECT FROM TAC OPS as no one else will have the LONG STRAPS.

The LONG STRAPS cost a little more than the regular-length straps. <span style="font-weight: bold">Email me</span> for Stock Pack color/pattern availability and shipped cost within the CONUS and I'll check with Mike Rescigno at Tac Ops.

The underside of Tac Ops Stock Packs is covered with the "loop" (half of the "hook & loop" that makes "Velcro" work. This allows you to position the stock straps to fit virtually any stock. See photos below:

Yes. The cartridges in the photos above are 175gr. .308 though.

I ordered my Tac Ops Stock Pack from Tactical Works on a Wednesday evening at 5:30 PM and had in the same week Friday morning and only paid $4 and some change in shipping.

I have both the Eagle and Tac Ops I would say they are a horse a piece quality wise.
I prefer the fit of the Eagle. The straps on the Eagle are approx. one inch longer that the Tac Ops. I laid the two stock packs flat on top of each other and they are the same size and contour.
I do like that the Tac Ops has velcro loop on both sides of the interior of the stock pack making for a bit more useful stock butt loop adjustment for a variety of gunstocks.

Have had an Eagle on for about 5 yrs. and no problems, another on my Savage .22 that sees alot of sweat every weekend and no problem there either. Just picked up a pack from Tactical Works, in multi-cam, last week ordered Wed. and received Fri. not sure of brand off hand, but appears as well built as my Eagle's..

Tactical Works sells Tac Ops Stock Packs in some of the colors and patterns Tac Ops makes, but of course all of the Stock Packs Tactical Works carries in stock have regular-length straps. If you want the LONG STRAPS you need to order direct from Tac Ops and specify <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">"LONG STRAPS"</span></span> and pay a slight upcharge ($45.00 shipped)

Tactical Works lists the <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">DigiCam version of the Tac Ops Stock Pack</span></span> on their web site, with a link to <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">additional colors</span></span>.

For those who aren't familiar with DigiCam, below is a photo I shot of the embroidered "<span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">"Tactical Operations"</span></span> name on the large muzzle end exterior pocket of a Tac Ops LONG Digicam Drag Bag. I shot the photo as the sun was going down (roughly 15-degree angle), so the color is a bit off and harsh, but you can see the pattern well enough.

Also, the Tac Ops Stock Packs' have "loop" sewn to the whole underside, allowing the Straps to be positioned nearly anywhere for the best possible fit. I don't know of any other manufacturer that does this. The Stock Pack in the photos is several years old, and has a larger gap between the pieces of loop on the Right and Left sides of the Stock Pack. The newer Tac Ops Stock Packs that I've seen only have about a 1/2" gap between the Right and Left sides.

I just got in the Triad Tactical large rifle stock pack. Looks really well built. I like the fact I can put a Mil-Dot Master along with an AI 10 round 300WM mag as well.

If my Manners comes in on Tuesday, I should know how well it fits on my T4.

I found with my Eagle ones with external cartridge loops that when I was out hunting I would a)lose rounds out of them and b)scratch the fuck out of myself on my Amax tips (I wear short shorts and carry my rifle slung when walking long distances, ok?).

No, they don't. You might try contacting Mike Bush over at <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">Black Ops Precision</span></span> (formerly <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">"UnderGround Skunkworks"</span></span>). Tac Ops has made Drag Bags for UnderGround Skunkworks, embroidering the UnderGround Skunkworks logo on the outside instead of the Tactical Operations name, and I remember Mike Rescigno (Tac Ops President and Master Gunsmith) telling me that Mike Bush wanted him to make some Stock Packs with internal loops for UGSWs' as well.

I don't know what cartridge you're shooting nor do I remember how tight the loops are on Eagle Stock Packs, but I know that .308 rounds fit pretty tight in Tac Ops Stock Pack loops and you would have to work at it to get the rounds to fall-out of the loops.

I don't know what you can do about the scratches, except maybe to try slinging your rifle differently when hiking and climbing. Maybe you should look into an Eberlestock GS 2. Good luck.

Recently picked up a Tac Ops stock pack with the long straps. Fits the McMillan A5 stock on my Kimber like a glove. Also came with a set of short straps, so I can move it to my Remingotn with a HS Precision stock without any hassle. Pack is extremely well built. Do not have any other stock packs to compare the Tac Ops to, but IMHO, cannot go wrong with a Tac Ops.

You can also have a custom one made just how you want it. I wanted something specific on my AICS and had one made by SKT Industries. Not very expensive, considering.

Very good guy to deal with as well - listened to exactly what I wanted, and I had it in my hands in a week.

Got my Tac Ops stock pack last week, & had the long straps ordered with it. It fits my T5-A well. Even though I have the cheek rest very high for my perscription glasses the long straps were long enough. I would like a cover that could velcro, or better yet clip down over the exposed rnds in the shell loops. I'm sure it could be done, but to make a flap that fit all sizes would be a challenge at least. My 300WM rnds stick down below the bottom of the pack, or their rubbing my cheek. I've only poked myself a few times with the bullet points. After a while you learn to carry it so they don't do that.
