Stock Texture Question

Done textured a few stocks with marine tex and have gotten pretty good with it. Now I was wondering if anyone has ever added a dye or color additive to marine tex? I want to make it black. I know I could just paint but not sure on how long that will last espically on the texture parts when doing a really aggresive texturing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try some Brownell Acra Glass dye...

I work with fiberglass dyes on a nearly daily bassis. You can pick up dyes designed for resins and epoxies, thats what I use. You can get Marine Tex in white and block/dk gray, If you want black the dk gray with a little dye should get you there.

I just looked at the Marine Tex website. That is actually one of their frequently asked questions. They say yes but not more than 5% pigment added. I am really curious myself as to how this turns out. If you go ahead post up pics. I would be trying for a brown/tan color. Keep us updated
