Stocks, if i only owned a CNC

As cool as all these new chassis are i wonder if anyone has though of more practical designs that keep some of the key features.

Adjustable cheek +
lenght of pull +
Foldable stock, so a compact hard case can fit into my compact trunk
Target style vertical grip which i personally prefer over a pistol grip
And whats with all the rails on these new chassis

If i only had a CNC ..

As far as I know the Alpine chassis is 2.5 lbs and breaks down to reduce the overall length and allows vertical adjustment on prone shots with its butt stock. As far as I know for a similar set up with the XLR it's 3.75 lbs and requires another .5 lbs for the folder adaptor to do the same thing. I guess I stand corrected at 1.75 lbs. However I would like to see them both on a scale. Considering both of them are right around the weight of most composite stocks I would have to say engineering and ergonomics comes into play at this point.

Just thinking about things here you could have two Alpine stocks with rifles in them and easily shoot both of them with one qd buttstock by quickly switching from one to the other.

1) What is the OAL with the stock disassembled?

2) What is backing the bipod mount into the CF? Is there a plate in there?

Since my rifle action is very rare I had to build my own it took almost two years but the result is very good. I put into the design every feature I wanted so I am very happy with it' next stepp is to remove some material to make it easier to carry.

I may be alone on this, but who cares about a couple of pounds. My XLR rifle is heavy, but that's not because of the chassis. 27" bull barrel with a huge and heavy scope and plenty of rails.

If it's to heavy, go to the gym and build muscle.


I would only think about weight if I was walking miles a day with one.

+1. Your motive is obvious and 'Hide members are generally more discerning than members elsewhere. IE, you are not fooling anyone here.

And for the record, I've carried an XLR more miles than you'll probably walk in the next decade. I've competed with my XLR equipped rifle and I could easily hunt with it. I also like that fact that I know exactly who the guys are at XLR, I know exactly where their shop is located, and where their chassis are made. That is a heck of a lot more information than is offered on your generic brands website, or you have offered with your incomplete profile.

That's bad ass! You seem like a very focused and dialed individual. As for me I do about 20 miles a week of running... mostly on trails at elevation. I've done 50 miles in the mountains with 12,000' of climbing in 12 hours. Last year I did a 100 mile race with over 23,000' of climbing all on the old two feet. I want you to know I have tons of respect for you. Same goes for XLR. To each their own. Over and out.

No.  Engineering and ergonomics are what cause some people to choose McRees while others choose XLR's.   The only reason I can see that anyone would choose your copycat product is that you have deceived them into doing so.

What an embarrassing and unethical start to your copycat design.

Was this your thought process?

Step 1: Get an XLR so you know how to build a stock.

Step 2: Copy design

Step 3: Join Snipershide as a curious third party so you do not have to adhere to the Forum rules.

Step 4: Promote your product by fraudulently posting as said third party.

Step 5: Freak out as you are called out and your sales bluff is seen through.

Step 6: Backpedal as your fraudulent behavior is brought to light.

Step 7: Attempt to laugh it off.


So, lets see that thing on a scale complete. I want to see 2.5 pounds complete. That is with a grip, action screws, butt stock, and sling studs. That would be everything ready to use on a rifle with exception of the mag.

Actually, I would want to see a video since your lying behavior has shown that you can not be trusted. So no setting the tare lower. Zero scale. Put chassis on scale. Reveal that the 2.5 pounds was a hoax.

Well I'll admit that the way everything has panned out kinda sucks for me. I know that I'm breaking the rules on this site and will probably be kicked off here. I also realize I mislead many of you and you now have a reason to not trust me. All that is just unfortunate for me, but it is what it is. I think you all probably know why I did what I did. Obviously I wanted to get this product out there and not pay for advertisement. I appologize for misleading all of you.

I set out to design a modular stock that is as light or lighter than most composite stocks and wasn't a blocky heavy POS that I wouldn't want to haul around. I feel I have accomplished that. All these chassis designs are all a copy of something or each other. I didn't set out to specifically copy the XLR but the butt stock did end up looking similar. Everything I did on the design I did for a reason and sometimes there is only one way to go about something to accomplish what you are after. Kyle, I've given you plenty of stuff for you to chew me up and spit me out. But at the end of the day when it really comes down to it, I know that I have a better product than you.

Edit: Just so we are clear, it would be ridiculous for me to be threatened by your " design". I knew from day one that he industry was headed in that direction. A quick look at the chassis systems out there confirms that. I was not the first to run a tubular hand guard and certaintly not the last. We all must pull innovation from somewhere. However, it is your job to make it your own. Your coment that there is only one way to do something shows that you are not up to the task. My original comments where directed to the exact likeness of our products. You were the one that pursued it and backed yourself into the corner. At least I ended up with a sweet ass stock.

I design products for the military as my day job so I don't need this company to be successful. I'm a Certified Solidworks Professional and have worked on some of the most complex designs out there. I have also had the opportunity to work with some of the best machinists in the country. I'm not really worried about my career. Up to now this has been a fun project and I have some more innovative things that I'm working on. I'm actually a really nice guy and I'm sure I can run a successful buisness. If people are willing to give me a chance I'm sure I can make them very happy. I am not one to give up easily and look forward to riding this out and seeing what the future brings. Kyle, I hope there are no hard feelings. I have become very passionate about this and I tried hard to not make anything personal, but if I have offended you in anyway I hope you can sympathise.

Ouch.

As much as I like lightweight, and the Alpine stock appears to be a bit lighter than the XLR, customer service is very important.

Part of the reason I bought an XLR is because I've been screwed over one too many times by shitty businesses and now I'll only deal with businesses that have top notch customer service. I'm not saying Alpine does not have this, but when you buy from XLR, you deal with Kyle directly, he is prompt about answering questions, and gives accurate wait times.

50 miles in 12 hours in the mountains???

I've been backpacking for years, shooting for longer than that. I've traveled all of the world doing both. I've NEVER met a man that could maintain 4+ miles an hour for 12 hours straight at altitude. At my peak of physical fitness I can only do about 20 Miles in 8 hours, and that is on the roughest section of the AT. Add 20lbs of foot/shelter/water, 15 lbs of rifle, and another 15-20lbs of shooting support gear and most people will top out at about 15 miles a day.

I'm afraid I have to call you a liar on that one sir. I don't care how Tier 1 you think you are.
