Seems to be a day late getting into 3 Gun but looking for a decent shotgun for once or twice a year. M4 is nice, shot one a few months ago but not in the budget. Current shotguns aren't up to the task. Remember 870, Ted Williams 3 shot semi, and a couple of single and double barrel break actions.

Anyhow, not much local 3 gun. Found out we have a 2 gun, pistol and shotgun, a couple hours away. Looking at putting about $600 - 650 into a shot gun and mag extension. Figure I might even try some sporting clays with it for trigger time since I have trap, skeet, and 5 stand available.

I have the Stoeger M3K with the factory extended magazine. I purchased it so I had something to compete with in local 3Gun Matches.

First time shooting it I had a failure to extract. I immediately replaced the extractor with a Benelli extractor, and also replaced the springs with the Taran Tactical ones... made a huge different in trigger pull.

Since then it's been 100% reliable.

Has significantly more recoil than my Beretta A400.

Overall I'm happy with it for my purposes.

I have an M3K as well. Added a longer mag tube/spring, longer lifter and have run it with zero issues. It's really the only thing out there that is race ready for a decent price. The mag well, already being beveled and radius'ed, solves a lot of major customization most do to make shotguns ready for 3/2 gun style matches. (i.e. for quad loading)

IMHO, the M3k is the best bang for the buck for a race ready shotgun. Great guns.

I have one, as soon as I got it I sent it off to MOA Precision in Oregon for their complete package. I couldn’t be happier with it. They specialize in working on Stoegers for 3-Gun Shooting.

It's about the only game in town in your price range. No matter what anyone tells you STAY THE HELL AWAY from the 930 JM Pro. It's the biggest turd ever dropped.
I know well over two dozen people with 3000's, they're a good platform but QC seems a bit spotty. About 2/3rds of those people got reliable guns out of the box, the rest had to throw in a couple Benelli parts to get them going.

After looking at their catalog, they make a version of the M3K with a 10+1 capacity and the loading port already opened up and beveled. It has a 24 inch barrel. I was thinking 28" and add a mag extension. That is the only decision left. I'm leaning towards out of the box convenience. I think either option will cost the same in the end with buying an extension.

I have already passed on the 930, I haven't read much good about it. There is a used Remington Versamax for $1K at my club but the lower new price and Stoeger/Benelli parts swap decided against it. If I hit the lottery I'd get the M4.

All M3K's have the beveled loading port. Only decision should be barrel length and mag length, and maybe some extended choke tubes. Tactical shotgun has you banging the barrel on things occasionally, so an extended choke tube can save the muzzle some wear and tear.

M2, my mistake last night. As to barrel length, if it's going to have a long magazine tube it may as well have a long barrel. I know it's a "game" gun but the mag being longer than the barrel just looks wrong.

Thinking about whacking the muzzle on stuff, it almost makes sense to let the mag tube stick out and take the abuse.

Picked up the M3K Freedom this week. Hope to go bust clays next week on vacation. Then Tactical Shotgun and 2 gun (pistol and shotgun) matches in the area. Hopefully we get some 3 Gun sometime.
