There are a number of add-on cheekpieces out there on the market for use on conventional stocks. Some have pouches or ammo storage. What brands do you recommend and why? I don't much care about pouches or ammo carrying. I'm more concerned about being able to adjust the height to get my eye aligned with the scope, by either padding underneath or other methods, and have the thing stay in place.

Thanks in advance,

John

I just got a black one from Triad on Friday...one with the ammo rings on the outside. It's awesome. It got my check weld close with the velcro strips that come with it. I wanted it to go a hair more so I just picked up some velcro from walmart and stuck 2 or 3 more pieces on there and it fits perfectly. I haven't shot with it yet, but my initial thoughts of it are great. I definitely recommend it.

I just got a cheek pad in the mail a couple days ago. The name of it skips my mind right now. It's synthetic leather and takes some ridid foam inserts. You can adjust it for height with these. You can also cut an egg shaped hole in the top piece of foam. That way you can feel where to put your cheek each time. I have noticed one thing that I don't like, though. Not only does this pad bring your eye level up to match the scope, but it also pushes your face out away from the stock. I noticed that I now have to turn my head slightly to see through the scope. I'm not sure if I like that or not. I guess I could always duck tape something onto my stock. I hate to do that to my beautiful Remington rifle, but I might do just that....
