What do you all think of the Streamlight weapon lights? How do they stand up to Surefire? (Aside from the fact that the Streamlights are priced for humans and Surefire is priced for???

I have never owned one, so I cannot say, but I own many Surefire products, and can tell you that you get what you pay for. For me, I know my light is going to do what I need it to under any condition. Would you be willing to bet your life on something that you saved a couple of bucks on? I own a Streamlight TLR-1 weapon light. They are made in USA. Mine is an LED, and usually mounted on a SIG P-220. It has held up A-OK.

I own both the TLR-1 and TLR-3,I run them on my handguns and Surefires on my rifles. The Streamlights are very well made and have had no problems with them at all.

Thanks for the input. I noticed On the Streamlight website that all their lights said, "Assembled In USA". Does this mean the parts are made elsewhere then they are put together here? Or is Everything made here? I know Im being picky but im Curious. Their rifle lights interest me HEAVILY. Especially the strobe capability. Ive not seen a Surefire rifle light with this capability. Any Thoughts?

I shot with team stream light at the industry masters. They not only are made in the USA but feel its very important to procure materials from the USA for their manufacturing. They are the real deal and I love their products. They also give allot back to the community/shooting sports!!

Super lights.
i have ran one on my glock 34 over 3000 rounds now, several IPSC comps.
i have another on a M4gery, 5000+ rounds, GTG.
Im my opinion they are equal if not superior to the Surefire.
If i didnt trust my life to them I wouldnt be using them.

I am not sure you can go wrong either way. I carry a TLR-1 every day on duty and have never had a problem with it and don't anticipate ever having a problem. I do somewhat prefer the x300 method of activation, just due to its almost natural usability. However, training cures all things and it is a non-issue anymore. I also do think the TLR-1 is a heck of a value for what you are getting.

I have had a TLR-1 on a glock 19 for over 6-7000 rounds. Still running great. Even if the top is pretty scorched up!

I gone through 2 TLR-1s, having said that, I am still using my original X300 from when they went from the 200 to the 300 and nary a problem. Ill stick with Surefire for my weapon lights.

Glad to hear positive feedback on the TLRs. I find it difficult to pony up $300 for something so small, like I'm not getting my money's worth but this will soften the blow.

My handgun, both of my AR15s, and one of my shotguns ALL wear Streamlight TLR-1 C4 LEDs..... Absolutely never an issue with these.

I've used and own a TLR-1, Surefire X300, and an Insight M3X.... IMO the TLR-1 is the best bang for the buck BY FAR. The aluminum housing is great and seems to be very durable. I've ran them on various models of Glocks and M4's/AR15 types and have yet to have a problem. The Insight and Surefire are nice too however I don't see the price difference in the Surefire and I like the aluminum housing of the TLR-1 compared to the M3X. I also highly recommend the LED model.

I purchased around 350 TLR-1's for department use. The first 200 or so were purchased at least 4 years ago. I am not aware of one being broken yet. Knock on wood... I like Surefire also but I do agree that the TLR-1's are a great value.

Yes, you do get what you pay for and Streamlight's work extremely well so don't buy into that "expensive is better" line. On some things I absolutely agree but in this case the two major differences between the Surefire and Streamlight are the Surefires are submersible for a much longer time than the Streamlight (do you do a lot of shooting where you come out of the water like a Navy SEAL?) and the Surefires light has a stronger beam which does not expand and disperse as quickly as the Streamlights when you back away from the target. I have a TLR1 and a TLR2 and they're both great, never failed, battery last a very long time and the light and laser are very strong. Heres a good review on both.

And the mounting system, I was not sure but after some play time, I like how it opens up to clip on then tighten it up. Ideal for defending my yard, 75 yards from back deck to brush and trees, and also inside the house.

I too love my Streamlight TLR-1. Not trying to start a flame war, but I see Surefire flashlights much the same as I see Leupold scopes. They are good, but in my OPINION I see them both as coasting on their reputations more than their current products, and charging for the name. The claim is that the reputation and supposed greater reliability justify the cost, but I'm not so sure. Plenty of people trust their lives to Streamlights on a regular basis, as evidenced by several commenting before me.
With companies like Streamlight and Vortex out there (to name a couple), makes it kinda hard to justify the added cost of a Surefire or Leupold.
Just my $.02.

I have run a TLR-1 attached to a P229R for the 7 years that I have been on the tac team. I sent away to NASA for calculation and have fired exactly 1 google-kazillion-billion rounds with it attached and never had an issue. I have trusted my life to this light God only knows how many times while aiming the business end at people and once made a bang.
Also, it's worth noting that I personally do not find much value in a strobing weapon light. I have been in situations where guys were strobing away and found it distracting. I also found that the same guys never strobed again. I stuck with my regular old TLR-1 and never looked back.
Good luck, you can't lose with either light. But like I said, I've been around the block a few times with the TLR-1 without a hiccup.

But over the past couple of years there has been a lot of competition with streamlight, novatac, browning and etc which have really stepped their game up and have been taking some of the market away from surefire. I personally like the competition because it has been driving the prices down on them, which is always a plus.
One of my favorite lights right now for the money is the streamlight protac-hl . It's compact, built well and it packs 500 lumens for only $65
When I bought my novatac 4 years ago which is an awesome light they were selling for $250 and now they are only $70. Which will just show you how much some of them have dropped in price.
With today's high end flashlights I really don't think you can go wrong it's just a matter of features and looks.

I have no problem at 200. The focused beam stays together at 200 and I can see it going much further. Had a critter in the back swamp area and lit it up with ease to see a kitty.
Inside the house on white walls, its bright.
The strobe is way cool as in kewlness factor but program it off for actual use.
