Stuck case in AI

So read about a known member having factory hornady ammo stick bad enough in a AI on a hot day at a match that he broke the bolt head trying to open it / free it up.


Unscrewing the barrel would be the way to go if you run into that problem correct ?

Would be tough to get the extractor to let go of the case once the bolt is in battery would be my guess

I watched 2 guys from **** *****stick their bolts in a team match shooting that shit. It was 100° but one sheared the bolt head off trying to get it open hith his foot.

I’m not near my rifle not sure if a roll pin is all that holds it together stock

I think that’s a 223 conversion bolt head.

I would agree with @Huskydriver about removing the barrel with the bolt in battery. I would think that the chamber would be a mess if it took that kind of force to open the bolt.

I would think it would have to be... This is a long action bolt from the AXSR. Thats why I couldn't picture breaking it.

Can do both, with or without

The pins are what hold the head in, and tight fit. Once the pins are weak, they can shear or walk out, letting the head come off.

I’ve had bolts that by simply removing the pins, the epoxy is worn enough that the head comes right off. I’ve had others that I need to get a jig and press the head off.

If memory serves correct, once the barrel starts to unscrew the head should come with it, and stuck case.
