Rifle Scopes Stuck leupold scope shade

Re: Stuck leupold scope shade

Get some Aero kroil from kano labs. The stuff is really that good. Don't spray on the scope directly...spray on something else and drizzle a few drops on the seam between the scope and the shade. Let it soak in for a few hours or overnight. Then use the filter wrench. Maybe I would lay a home heating pad on the shade to heat THE SHADE ONLY to a temp higher than the scope, that might help. Take it slow and all that.

Re: Stuck leupold scope shade

Thanks everyone for the ideas, I got the two filter wrenches and used a little penetrating oil. It still took a good amount of effort, but it broke loose. It looks like the previous owner glued the shade on, so I cleaned out all the threads and it's now good to go!
