Stumbled on the 30 Rem AR cartridge. Feedback any one?

Ordered a 22-250, in a bolt gun, but I saw the 30 Rem AR, while leafing through my reloading book, and it seems interesting. Close to the 308/AR10 ballistics, from the AR 15 platform, i.e. smaller and lighter. Any one tried it? I'm looking for a couple "new "calibers, to play with.

It got nixed before remington really gave it a chance. Could've been a great round. Still enough aftermarket support if you want to delve in.

Thanks, Drifter. Been doing some research, and read RegalK's comment. Not much available. Did find ammo, Nice to know Midway has dies. Just thinking that the specs were good and wondered why I hadn't read/heard about it. I reload, and it uses 308 bullets. If I could get 500, or so cases/shells for one, it could be an interesting gun. The "lack of interest", in these times, could be a benefit for me. Be nice to shoot some caliber nobody else is shooting, or hoarding.

Not trying to discourage you, but...

The new DPMS GII 308, which reportedly handles like an AR-15, might be a more sensible option, especially if you're already loading for 308.

The early planning of the GII might have been part of the reason that the 30rar was abandoned.

I'm pretty sure 30 Rem AR died out after Remington/AAC threw its collective weight behind the 300 Blackout. Both pretty much fill the same role.
