It's not my cup of tea, atleast not until I've seen the full reticle subtension chart, but I guess it somewhat fills the same niche as the LRHS.
Will be interested to see what you think about it.
34.8ft at 3x. That is not a narrow field of view.
The 4.5-18 usually gets credit for being narrow but it's right there with other scopes of the same mag range while the 3-12 has a fairly big FOV for its mag range.
Price. They aren't worth 1400 dollars compared to what else is out there. When you could pick one up for 8-900 it was diffrent.
Obviously I don’t have one but I wish they’d have put a donut in it, I don’t love the reticle but it looks ok as long as it doesn’t disappear at low mag like the xtr3i does. It looks like all the features I’d want are there though. I could see it taking over for the LRTSi if it holds up. I’ve never owned a maven so I’d sit back awhile and see how they hold up for other guys first. I am glad someone finally checked most of the boxes though.
I wish NF would put the Mil-R in the NX8 2-20. Can’t get excited about the mil c or xt for and all rounder.

I am currently in the boat of looking for a scope for a hunting rifle (I never hunted before but have experience shooting steel ). I currently have an atacr 44-16x42 on another rifle , I really like that scope for shooting steel but notice the reticle is a little thin under 6x for me .
My question is how does the glass on the nxs 2.5-10 compare to the atacr? Also, I read people complaining about the parallax adjustment on the 2.5-10, have you noticed any issues? And how is the eyebox on the nxs 2.5-10? I really like the eyebox on the atacr and find it easy to get behind.
Currently deciding on either another atacr 4-16x42, or bushnell lrhs2 (leaning towards bushnell due to thicker reticle) but the nxs 2.5-10 seems like it would work .
The scope is easy enough for me (6'2"), wife (5'3") and kid (4'5") to get behind. So eyebox is pretty good. Have no issues with the parallax at all. I don't notice any problems with the glass, it's better then the vx5hd 2-10 I also have. For a hunting scope I don't think the glass is any worse then anything else I have.
Sorry but for the money difference I'd rather get a thermal or BNVD ...

Currently have a March but I want to try the NF 2.5-10 and Swaro 2.5-15. I think the Swaro might be the ticket for where I hunt.
I just ordered the nxs 2.5-10. I cant wait to get it and compare to the atacr and bushnell lrhsi. The size and weight is a big factor (10 oz difference between the atacr 4-16 and the nxs). I also find a comfortable scope to get behind is one of the most important things for me. Thanks for your feed back.

I also have Bushnell, Burris, Weaver, Nikon, Trijicon, Tasco....I mean, you know, a real mish mash according to the budget and knowledge of shooting when acquired and particular use intended.
I have (I think) 4 Swarovski scopes and, hands down, I prefer these over all the other scopes I have. I have an x5i 5-25x56 on a 30 Nosler. It's been superb, dials reliably, plenty durable enough for my purposes. No hard barricade use, no fast rope helicopter attacking, no door kicking...completely non-operator type shit for this guy.
I have a z5i 3.5-18x44 on a 280 Ackley. I shoot this rifle more than all the others except for a 223 Ackley. SFP and BRH reticle that I have really learned to like. It's not much work to figure out what zoom level is most useful, then to also gather dope for minimum and maximum zoom levels. I can explain more if desired.
I'm currently in the process of building a rifle and am going to use this scope. Still SFP, the BRH type reticle that I know I like. This one is a MIL scope...not that it matters to me one way or another, I'm not spotting and communicating target info with anyone.

What are your thoughts on the nxs vs the nx8 scopes? I was looking at the nx8 but some people say the eyebox is tight?
Do you have any experience with the nxs 2.5-10? I ordered one yesterday to go on a hunting rifle. Any comparison between the nxs 2.5-10 to the nx8 2.5-20 especially in sfp?
I am not sure I will ever buy another NF scope, especially new.
The larger NXS scopes have one thing that really gets on my nerves. The entire ocular rotates to zoom. I have altered the diopter setting many times when I only meant to zoom. Back in the day when I bought my first one (about 2009), the NXS was a superb piece of kit. They are extremely durable and reliable and if you are after something that you can frame a house with and remain on zero, they are probably your best choice. Otherwise, I feel that there are better options available today, including within the brand.
I don't own a 2.5-10 but I am fairly certain that the entire ocular doesn't move on zoom and that it uses a zoom ring instead. I bet you are going to be VERY happy with that choice.
As for the tight eyebox on the NX8, I have never had any trouble at all and do not understand the issue others have complained about. Maybe its a head position thing. I don't know. I have a 2.5-20x50 SFP on a 22LR and have no issues at all. I shoot the shit out of this rifle, suppressed, killing vermin and varmints around the house (so...many various shooting positions and in all different weather/lighting conditions) and targets out to 450 yards. I have a 4-32x50 FFP on a 338 Lapua Ackley Improved and same thing, no issues, no complaints.
The x5i is probably the best scope I have, in my opinion. Swarovski, Zeiss, ZCO are the scopes on my short list.
With my NX8 2.5-20 I can get behind just fine. And have never had an issue with the eyebox. My hunting partner has both the 2.5-20 and 4-32 nx8's. He is 4" shorter then I am and I can get behind both of his scopes just fine. My wife and kid both struggle with the eyebox on my hunting rifle. Again it's set for me though.
Also I believe only the ATACR line has the rotating eyepiece. I have a few of those as well and didn't like them for hunting for that reason alone. If I'm bottomed out on the zoom for walking around. Then need to zoom in the cap and bolt would interfere with each other.

Ok. It's been a while since I sold my 5.5-22. I didn't remember it turning to zoom, but i must be mistaken.
I have never been a nightforce fan boy, and about 2 years ago I bought a 4-16x42 atacr. It's a nice scope, glass is good (not as good as a schmidt bender pmii 4-16x42 I have which is older). But I really like the turret on that atacr and it's easy to get behind. A few months ago I purchased a nxs 5.5-22x56, and i enjoy that scope because its very easy to get behind. I too am not a fan of the rotating ocular. All my shooting was on steel so not a big deal.
Now , I am getting my first hunting rifle and it weighs 6 pounds 2 oz without a scope on it. Originally I was really look another atacr 4-16 or bushnell lrhs2 4.5-18 (I have a gen 1 and it's a pretty good scope). I ended up going for the nxs 2.5-10 based on what I read on various forums on this site and others. I like the weight of the optic and I should recieve it tomorrow so I can compare it to the atacr and bushnell. I pretty much ruled out the atacr simple because the reticle is to small for me on 4-5x . I hope this scope works out , if not I probably would look at one of the nx8 in sfp or a bushnell lrhs2 (I know that reticle works, but eyebox gets tight for me after 10x ).
Sounds like I really need to take a look at the nx8 and make my own decision on if the eyebox is tight.

That's an awesome picture to see all of these scopes lined up. Gives a good idea of the size. The nx8 looks much larger than the nsx . My nxs should arrive tomorrow and picking up my rifle Saturday.
Is mounting the nxs a problem in tally low rings? Is there enough length to get it far back enough? It looks perfect on your rifle, but that is one concern I had for myself (scope body is short).
I own a Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 and believe it to be one of the finest options available under $3000, giving me the ability to do this at 50 yards with 15 rounds of .22LR:If the length is too much, then my next recommendation, although pricier, I'd have to say the Nightforce NX8 4-32x50 with Mil-XT reticle (or whichever reticle you prefer).

This one I don't actually own unlike the tenmile so my opinion is based on other peoples' anecdotes and the specifications of the scope. Durability is top tier, sub 30 oz, glass is supposedly fantastic, illuminated, and vs the 2.5-20, the 4-32 is said to have a better eyebox. If you are OK with the tighter eyebox the 2.5-20 may suit you better due to the even shorter length and slightly lighter weight.
I lump Nightforce, Trijicon, and SWFA in tier 1 due to the reliability of holding zero against drops/impacts.
That's a big difference on a light weight rifle, also looks bulkier in the picture like it may effect the balance of the rifle a little more. Hoping scope arrives today, might not get here today because of the weather conditions earlier in the week.

Yes the nx8 is physically larger and I much prefer the slimmer nxs to it for my 6.5cm. My only wish is they made the turrets on the nxs a little more compact. But that's starting to get pretty nitpicking.
For me the glass quality doesn't hold it back to anything else I own. Which includes(ed) S&B, atacr's, Vortex g3 RZR's MK5HD etc. The glass might be better on others, but not better enough to justify switching it.
The one I still want to try is the TT315H, but maybe one day.

I recieved the nxs 2.5-10×42 , got it mounted and was able to zero the scope and shoot it out to 1060. The scope is awesome, very good glass (not the greatest but very good especially for its size,). The scope is easy to get behind, so far I like everything about it! I am not sure how to post pictures or I would.
Do you happen to know the outside diameter of the objective lens on the nightforce 2.5-10×42? I am currently across country and not near my scope and have not been able to find the information on line?

I was looking for measurements because I found a great deal on a burris thermal clip on and looking to buy a objective adapter for this scope. I am on the road and wouldn't be home for another week but would like to order the adapter so it's at my house when I get home.
I've been working on the dame th8ng for several years. I've gone through SB Polar, LRHSi, xtr2, regular amg, and I'm currently using 2 of the razor lht 4.5-22s. For general hunting use and not trying to beat the shit out if them, they've held up just fine. One is on a carbon barreled trg in 300wm and the other is on a 12lb 338rum. They dual consistently to 7 or 8mil, as this gets both rifles up to and past 1k yards. I d9nt go past that, because I don't need to. Both are on 20moa rails and using Warne mountaintech light rings. The rings are bedded to the scope so they're 100% secure. For the street price of the lht razor, you'd have to work to beat them. My last one was new in the box for $800. Watch for deals, they're good scopes.
I've got a Z6i 3-18x50 BT BRX-I, and it's fantastic. I can confidently hit targets out at 500 meters, and with the turret rings, I'll be stretching that out further. The Z6 is just excellent at what it's designed for. Swarovski's optical quality is top-notch, and the ballistic turret is both clever and straightforward. Element Nexus Gen 2 4-25x would be one to look at. Right at 30 oz and 30mm tube. Have one on my 6 arc but will likely grab another at some point.
