So; I have a man baby (16 year old) in the house that has been bugging me for a new rifle. I bought him a Browning micro hunter in .308 the day he was born just like all good dads do for their sons. That little A-bolt has been a great rifle but he wanted something bigger so I picked up a Savage 110 tactical in 300 Win mag the other day for $479 after the $100 rebate. I figured it would make a nice platform for a budget medium to long range "Do it all" rifle for him, plus it would fit his 6', 235 pound build better.

I have narrowed the scope choices down to these in no particular order:

1) Element Titan
2) Arken EP4
3) Leupold 3xi LRP
4) Bushnell Match Pro
5) SWFA 3-15

or ???? My head is swimming with YouTube videos!

I would like to stay under $800. I would like FFP, mil-mil, zero stops, at least a 30mm main tube and a 50mm objective, but willing to listen to other suggestions.

Thanks for any help and advice.....

Used Vortex PST Gen II’s go up in the PX here almost daily and easily within your price range. I’d go that route. I have no experience with any of he optics in your list above.

You can’t go wrong calling Doug at CameraLandNY (above) either. ?
I will check that out.

I forgot to mention the Athlon Midas tac is on my shortlist as well.

in addition to all the great choices listed above....Nikon has a bunch of scopes that they're clearing out, they seem like pretty good deals as well. For example this one is $500 from Eurooptic ....Nikon BLACK FX1000 Riflescope 6-24x50SF Matte IL FX-MRAD FFP 16516

You can get the Vortex Viper PST Gen II 5-25x FFP MRAD for $830 right now, just a hair over your budget:

I've also gotten stellar deals from Doug at Camera Land.

Is the rifle braked?
If so, be careful in regards to the PST, they have not fared very well on heavy recoiling, braked rifles.
They may have gotten better in that regards.
Midas Tac is a solid choice, as well as the Sightmark 3-18 Citadel might be worth a look.

Man my new Athlon Ares ETR UHD 4.5-30x56 is fantastic! Get one used if you can. The quality is insane on these things and the glass is super.

The Gen2 Ares BTR 4.5-27x50 has become my favorite go-to sub $900 scope. I bought one, then another right away because I liked it so much, and scheming for a third. Favored mostly because of it's all .2 mil tree reticle, but also it has close focus 25Y parallax, so later if I want to put one on a 22rf for NRL22, I'm GTG.

Have you tried the Citadel? I've been pretty interested in it, but there isn't much info online.

You get what you paid for. Look at the used section and pick your poison.

LRTS is what I would go with but shoot, there are a ton of different scopes in that range that would be alright.

I have shot them all and for less than $1K I use the Vortex Viper PST-5257. Besides great glass the reticle is so good I use it for holdover instead of winding the knobs out to 1000 yards. I used it on my Barrett M82A1 50 BMG at the Barrett long range class and have put hundreds of rounds on target with it then switched it to my my savage 110 in 6.5C and it has continued to work just fine sub-moa.
