subsonic 308?

I have a spare 30 Cal 1-10 Shilen blank, and interested in making it a 308 for my Nuke. Curious if anyone here runs subsonic 308. Is 1-10 fast enough to get any decent accuracy? What can I expect for accuracy and to what range? Is 14.5" enough length to stabilize? I want to make it as compact as possible so would pin the suppressor host .

1:10 is questionable if you want to run heavy subsonics. If you are planning on a dedicated sub gun I would look into getting a different bolt head and going .300 blk. One of the benefits of having a bolt action or single shot is that you don’t have to worry about operating pressure, and can load whatever bullet weight you want.
One of my favorite subsonic loads in a .300 blk is a Hornady 90 grain over trail boss going at 950 FPS. This is very accurate in my rifle and is quieter than a pellet gun. The bullets expand at that velocity and will smoke a coyote or raccoon.

What sort of accuracy are you seeing?

If you plan to use projectiles heavier than 190, I would recommend you a faster twist, usually the subs are 220-240 grains and require 1-7"

I cut a Remington 700 SPS in 308 to 16 (1-10 twist) and have played around with defender 175GR HPBT subs. They are stupid quiet and a lot of fun. The impact 3ish mils low of my standard FGMM zero at 100 and group size was probably about 1.25 -1.5 MOA at 100. With FGMM the gun shoots under .75 all day. I have shot subs out to 300 no problem on steel for fun. Based on my experience your plan sounds good to me. Granted I have not tried heavier sub loads as I dont see the need since I like the 175s.

The Hornady 190 sub bullet, which are very accurate, will work. I've shot Hornady's 170 30-30 bullet bullet for years until the 190's came out. They don't make that bullet any longer.

I'm running 220 grain round nose flat base Sierras out of a 1/10 twist with no problems. Flat base seems to be key for stability from what I've seen. I'm going to need to try out that 90 grain load recommended above - seems like it might work well for small critters.
