Rifle Scopes Such a thing as an inclined two-piece base?

Is there such a thing as a two-piece scope base with built-in slope? I know I could go the Burris Posi-align ring route, but I was curious if there are other options.

I'm considering a lighter-weight build and want to forgo the standard Picatinny rail setup.

yes their are like the steel nightforce but the small weight diference of them compaired to an alloy one piece rail is negligable, I dont like any 2 piece bases on a remington reciever as the diferent tolerences over the years are a lot. this means that if you fit the rails they could end up on a diferent plane and when you tighten the scope into the mounts you will bend the scope tube. Take a good look at what you want to achieve but i have seen a few high cost scopes bent by being fitted to good quality 2 piece bases tapered or not. Even a one piece base should be bedded to a remington reciever due to the diferences in the rear steps that have been produced over time.

Hope this helps but dont do it in my opinion.

Yep several manufacturers make them. Tac Ops makes a 22 moa 2 piece set and Mike swears by 2 piece bases. I'm not sure that I necessarily agree with him there but Mike has forgotten more about rifles then I know.

I have the two piece TAC Ops bases on my Howa and they seem to work as advertized..

Tac Ops also makes 15 MOA, 34 MOA, and 40 MOA two-piece base sets. I put the 40 MOA set on my X-Ray 51 because the bases are already drilled for 8-40s' and because I could. I know I don't need more than 13 MILS to get to 1,100 yards with BH 175s' but I figured WTF? Tac Ops bases are also (Birdsong) Black-T coated.

As far as one-piece bases versus two-piece bases go, that debate that has gone on for many years - and I won't tell you that one is better than the other. I do know that Mike Rescigno likes and recommends one-piece bases and he never sells or recommends stuff that doesn't work. His rifles shoot very well indeed with one-piece bases.

BTW, Leupold has also been making a two-piece 20 MOA (Mark 4) base for many years, but they also make a flat two-piece Mark 4 base so if you go the Leupold route make sure you order the correct one!

Pierce Engineering also offers aome real nice two piece bases with 10, 20 or 30moa built into them.

If its for a remington. What about 2 piece bases with burris zee signature rings. This should deal with the poor quality control of remi action holes and alleviate the need for lapping. Just a thought.

Wouldn't this be remedied by lapping the scope rings?

Guys,

An update and a question;

I e-mailed Pierce Engineering, and they only make their base/ring combo for 1.375" round actions. I assume this excludes a Remington 700.

Also, anyone have pics of the Tac Ops two-piece inclined bases? I can't find anything good on their website.

Yes look in the gallery section and find the pictures of my rifles. The 300 wby that I had stolen had the tac ops bases on it.

2 piece base can be handy as they have a lot more opening when feeding the internal magazines, and more so if you have a very low mounted scope (say a 3.5x10x40 or less, the windage turret dosn't help)

leupold makes 2 pc mark 4 bases in 20 moa.

Nothing wrong with 2 piece base. You may not have as much room to play with your eye relief for the scope but it's perfectly fine. Just make sure that you mount it correctly. Otherwise, it can definitely play games with your head when trying to zero the scope...
