Super Bowl Party

I am local to the Kansas City area, so like everyone else, I am pretty excited about the Chiefs playing in this years Super Bowl.

Last night they ran a story on the local news about the veterans at the Missouri state veterans home in Warrensburg Missouri, talking with the vets about what they were doing, and where they were the last time the Chiefs played in the Super Bowl. Most are Vietnam vets, and didn't get to see the game.

They stated that they were having a Super Bowl party for the vets, so I emailed them and ask if the vets were allowed to have some beers during the party, and that I would be more than happy to buy them some beer for their party, if it was allowed.

Saturday I will be driving to Warrensburg to deliver some cases of beer for these American heroes to enjoy.

Nice of you to brighten those folks day. I’d bet most of them haven’t had a good cold brew in years.

As a side note; Make sure to verify with staff if they’re aware of any of the residents being recovered alcoholics and maybe bring one case of NA Beer. Dementia can make a man ruin any length of sobriety. Two years ago I had an elderly neighbor show up at my house looking for his family (he spent his childhood living in my house. That was the extent of my knowledge about him). To keep him from driving off in his pickup in his confused state I offered him a few beers and we chatted about his military service while I waited for the county sheriff’s deputy to arrive to help track down a family member. Later found out he was 25 years sober. I still feel bad about that...

Side note #2; Screw the NFL. I picked up an OT shift at work for that afternoon.

@Marinevet1 - Good on ya. I knew a guy who grew up so close to me had to be a pretty good dude, even if just over the line in MO...... I won't be watching, having watched football in a while, but my brother is a Chief's nut and is pretty excited.

I will echo seeing about taking some NA beer. My dad has a lot of years sober, as is one of my best friends. There is always a 6 pack of NA in my fridge. They both seem to enjoy having one or two when the timing is right. usually when planning shooting or hunting or eating Mexican food.....

It was an amazing match of Kansas City Chiefs. They played it very well, and all the players put their efforts to win this match. My grandfather told me that he was an eyewitness to the 1970 match between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2020, I watched this match and again Kansas City Chiefs won.

Easy win.

Any excuse to have a party during a pandemic is a good one. We may have a party. Probably won’t turn on the game though…

Three or four couples of us usually have a Super Bowl Party at one of our houses. Everyone brings snacks or some type of party food. Most of us are on 2 or 3 football pots and we watch more to see if anyone wins a quarter rather than root for one of the teams. Alcohol is permitted.
