Rifle Scopes Super Sniper HD FFP vs Vortex Viper PST FFP???????

I am looking for a 1-4x FFP for my Robinson Arms XCR and a higher magnifications scope for my Remington .308 bolt gun (which I eventually want to replace with a DTA SRS Rifle...).

Anyhow, debating between the 1-4x FFP from Vortex and SS FFP HD for the AR.

Then between the SWFA Super Sniper FFP 5-20X50HD and Vortex Viper PST FFP 4-16x or 6-24x. Seems several people favor the 6-24x over the 4-16x due to extra magnification and optical quality...?

They called about my Vortex Viper PST FFP 1-4x and 4-16x is ready to ship at a nice discount... now I am debating if it is still what I want after the LONG WAIT!

Or are there other optics I should consider instead for these two roles besides SS and Vortex?

From the very limited reports(there are only 2 SS's),my dollar is going to the SS.

Same here. I was really looking hard at a IOR for my next scope, however I'm waiting to see what the guys say about the SS 5-20X in their reviews. I've run a 16X regular SS in the past and was very happy with it. I probably could have doubled it's use as a hammer and it still would have functioned fine. Tough scope for sure. So needless to say can't wait for the review on the newest line. SS has always been GTG for me.

I've had no experience with the Vortex PST, but have heard very good reviews on it. Same thing with the SS 1-4 too. So I think either would be GTG. As far as the aimpoint....always been a fan of the eotech's donut of death.

so no help there as well, lol. But with the choices you have narrowed it down to, i think you will be fine with whatever you choose.

Wow, you live in Bossier City, LA? I was stationed at Barksdale AFB before I got out of the AF to go to school here in San Antonio, TX on the GI BILL.

Get the SS, it was designed to compete with scopes like the Vortex,Razor, NIghtforce, and S&B Short Dot. They PST is not even in the same league.

I own the SS 1-4x and have usedvthe 1-4x PST. They are not even in the same league.

The SS is designed for actual military use. The PST is designed to be a lower priced alternative with lots of bells and whistles.

The SS hands down is by far the superior of the two.

I'd also choose it over an aimpoint. The donut reticle is every bit as good as the aimpoint donut of death at 1x, and it can also get you out to further ranges as well.

Go SS.

Thanks, I am considering the T reticle kit 3 or 4 group buy for the SS HD FFP. Just not sure about capped or exposed turrets now...? Though they only make the T reticle available for the group buy.

The Vortex 1-4x is a SFP scope, not FFP. The SWFA 1-4x HD is FFP.

SS got a military contract when did that get awarded i missed it. They are on the short list wonder how they hold up to that beating.

I have the uncapped turrets and have used two others SS with uncapped turrets and have had no problems with accidently moving the adjustments. If you plan on using the adjustments a lot get exposed. If most shooting is up close get the covered.
I own four SWFA SS scopes and two Vortex Viper scopes and the SS HD scopes are what I would recommend. My next scope will be a SWFA SS.
