I am thinking about getting the 10x42 sf model but just don't know much about them and wondering if y'all would tell me what you thought. Going on a 223 that is primarily a plinker and does some hog hunting. Thanks in advance.

Great optic for the money. Its hard to beat them for under 900.00. Buy one and thank me later. I am upgrading at the momment but only to a US Optics so it takes a big jump in money and needs in order to require the upgrade.

Good luck,
Merritt

Re: Super Sniper Scopes, how good

They are outstanding scopes for the money in my opinion. Like the others said, use the search function on this site and you will find an enormous amount of information on them. In general, you will find positive votes on their entire line.

My experience is with the 5-20x50mm HD FFP scope, and it rocks.

Good luck.

Buy with confidence. The original SS fixed power line set the standard for reasonably priced entry level optics under $300. Lots of what you see with optics companies making scopes that meet our needs now is because of the time, effort, money, quality and brains that SWFA put into these scopes.

Re: Super Sniper Scopes, how good

One of the best scopes for the money you can buy. Don't hesitate. The only thing I can complain about is they're mil/moa but considering the glass and overall quality you get aswell as 150MOA of adjustment I can't complain too much.

USPS just delivered me another one 30 minutes ago but I worked out a trade deal for a LRF before it arrived so it's going right back out. I have a couple others I've had for years and they have always performed flawlessly whenever I use them.

I much prefer a variable scope for hunting. You can pick up a used SS 3-9 for around $450.

I've got a Fixed 10, a 3-9 & a 5-20. They are all excellent performers at their price points.

Nutt, how does the glass on that 5-20 SS compare to the Nightforce glass in their 5.5-20x50?

Re: Super Sniper Scopes, how good

Most of the hunting will be at night on this one, around 75 us shots on a lit up feeder. The 10x would be fine for that, I got lighter guns for hauling around. Has anyone used theirs at night, if so how does it perform, cloudy or bright enough to see good.

I haven't spent a lot of time behind a NF so I can't compare the 2. I can say the glass is as nice as anything I've seen with the exception of some very high end Swaro stuff.

For hunting at night I'd want a variable even more than in the daylight.

SWFA SS, the 10x is okay at night. The 3-9 is pretty good hunting varmints under a spotlight. I'd say it is on par with my Leupold VX 3 in that regard.

Re: Super Sniper Scopes, how good

I Competed in a night shot a few weeks ago. I have the 10x HD model. We had a chem light in the center of target and a pickup truck lighting up the targets at about a 100 yards. We started shooting at 600 yards and worked are way in to 100 yards a 100 yards at a time. It performed superbly. For a bonus 10 points they had a playing card you could try and hit at 300 yards and even had no trouble seeing it. If I ever need to upgrade it will be the 5x25 SWFA model.
