A new tech has been developed. Neverwet spray creates a 165 degree contact angle on surfaces it is applied to. This creates a water slide effect, repelling water off surfaces.

You can spay your iPhone then submerge it, spray your towel and it won't absorb water, spray on metal to prevent rust and create reduced friction surfaces, spray yourself and go for a swim while remaining dry, turn any article of clothing into a waterproof layer, and more.

Would spraying it on bullets mean less resistance to water and air in flight?

Would spraying it on barrels mean more acceleration?

Can it withstand the heat inside a chamber?

In two weeks, it"ll be at Home Depot and is already available at Home Depot online.

It is two coats, price is around $20.

Hydrophobic coatings typically have very poor abrasion and UV resistance, when exposed to either they typically lose their performance (as measured by contact angle) very quickly. I wouldn't put this coating on anything important before testing it out to see how it performs over time when exposed to a relevant use environment.

I wonder if it could be mixed with an epoxy coating? It would be great if you could get the best traits of each in one mix. Maybe we have some experimenters that spray coat guns, they could try some mixes on a piece of stock iron or such....that would be a big hit if it could be made to work!
