Effective July 1, 2011 it will be legal per KS statute. Our governor signed a bill a couple of months ago allowing suppressors for all legal hunting and also CCH while hunting. Previously, we could do neither.

Rory,
I met my wife years ago when I lived in South Dakota. I grew up in Dodge City, KS and moved from KS to SD in 1998. I told her on our first date (blind date) that I was never moving back to KS since it had no CCH and it was not Class 3 friendly. I moved back anyways and with the help of MANY KS residents, senators, representatives and a GREAT NRA lobbyist named Jordan Austin, we have been able to move KS from one of the lesser gun friendly states to one of the best. I am glad to have helped by testifying on the original bill that opened up class 3 to KS residents. It was great to watch a bill be drafted, go through committee, pass the House, pass the Senate and then get the Gov's signature. I learned that it is possible for a group of individuals to garner the help to get a gun law changed in a positive direction. Granted, KS has had a excellent GUN FRIENDLY House and Senate for a number of years but that is due to KS residents voting them into office.
Sorry for the long speech but I meant it to be encouraging to individuals in more restrictive states to get together and try to change their laws. My neighbor, Phil Journey, was working the CCH bill from the early 1990's and finally got it through around 2005 or 2006. This took a LONG time and big change in the makeup of the KS House and Senate had to take place before the votes would be there. The class 3 bill started as an idea when I knocked on his door to discuss the possibility of him introducing a class 3 bill in the Senate. That discussion was in December after then KS AG Paul Morrison released an opinion letter that KS C3 dealers could not possess class 3 items. The following April our bill became law when then Gov. Sebelius signed it. It took MANY years for good, conservative people to fill the House and Senate but it happened.
Michigan could be the next Kansas!!
