I previously had a JP 22in barrel with rifle gas, high pressure bolt, and adjustable gas block. I would shoot it almost exclusively suppressed, and doing so would destroy my brass. I tried everything to correct the issue; adjusting gas, heavy buffers, low mass carriers, etc. However, I could not keep the rifle from cratering or heavily swiping the brass; so I got rid of it. Now I have the bug for a semi 6.5cm, and I think I may give it a try with the +2 gas tube options that are now out.
I was thinking of a 20in, +2 gas, 6.5 Creedmoor barrel. Has anyone tried this combo or have any input on it? Would it allow for sufficient dwell time? This will be shot almost completely suppressed, so optimizing the rifle for this is my main concern. I know 22in +2 gas is known to work, but I do not want the extra length. Also I feel that the 20in +2 when suppressed would have even lower pressures than a 22in +2 when suppressed. The other option I may consider is an 18in with rifle Gas, but I would think the 20in with +2 would still have lower pressures while giving extra velocity.
