Today was a good day..., although we have had better, and as many know when you introduce the HD video camera your success/kill rate DOES decrease, I have been very fortunate this year to capture many kills, and amazing footage from the badlands, to the pine filled canyons, all the way to the sandhills... and today was no different, my cousin (a fellow hide member) runnin the gun, his weapon of choice the custom 22-250 suppressed, and I running the HD video with my trusty suppressed 260 in case a stubborn dog hangs up beyond the 22-250's range, set out on an afternoon hunt in the sandhills... our first set of the day, we chose very carefully with a 10mph breeze and sun in our face, we slipped our custom ghillies on and went prone next to a soap weed,
8 minutes passed and this BIG white alpha showed up, looking our way, but not knowing what or where we were, he snuck in like a cat, but like a dog tried squeezin in a half circle to try and wind us,
I gave a bark, stopped him in his tracks and my partner squeezed off a round @ 100yds, placing the round in this dogs heart.
one dog down.
2nd set, we parked our truck, loaded up our equipment and went into the sandhills about .5 miles, found a patch of big blue and switch grass where we made our hide, and the set began,
with one short rep on the call we waited... 2nd rep, and a pair of furred up dogs came charging, I hit the aux and the decoy twitched, the lead dog (left) keying in on this movement started his circle while his white female (right) waited...
I stopped the lead dog, and my shooter DID WORK...
hitting a different sequence of frequencies stopped the female in her tracks only 50yds from the first kill, once again my partner sent her a lead pill without a prescription...
a little post game celebration,
and the double haul...out...
as always fellas ENJOY!!!
