    Howdy Y’all,

By some miracle of ATF process, my stamp came in and I’m in possession of my new TBAC Ultra-7. (6.25 months from check cashed to stamp received/release from jail and gen 1 because I always seem to buy last years model days before the new hotness is announced, if you are wondering.)

I have a long weekend of shooting at some training later in the month and very little time to load the necessary rounds, let alone rework the load

If I load 300+ of the proven (before the can) loads are they likely to work with the can mounted? Pressure issues? Barrel harmonics? I’d really like to shoot the can over the weekend…because loud rifles suck for me, other trainees, and the instructors and I can deal with a POI SHIFT…but I’m going to be unhappy if the loaded rounds are too heavy a charge (pressure issues) or won’t group. Normally I would go shoot a bit and see what happens but I ocassionally have to work and unfortunately that’s the case almost every day between now and the training weekend. Should I load as usual and see what happens or try to force a quick trip to the range on the slim chance that I would be able to diagnose and confirm any needed changes?

For background, it’s a 6BRA chambered bolt gun shooting 105 hybrids over H4895 at 2900 fps. It will shoot just under .5” groups (10 rounds) at 100 yards and I have good DOPE to 1200 yds.

Any thoughts from perhaps @TBACRAY or @Zak Smith? Cheers.

If anything the can, in general terms will tighten up groups. I assume this is from tightening up harmonics. It will have almost zero impact on pressures etc.

That said POI shift is a thing. You will need an unsuppressed zero and a suppressed zero.

I am not familiar with the specific can you have but the good ones can easily repeat what the POI shift is.

I cant think of a single rifle or can combination that I have had that I needed to revise the load for. POI shift is another thing, on a short barreled Tikka T3 I had, I had no POI shift at all. On my current Sako TRG with a 26" barrel and a pretty heavy suppressor I had a -1 MIL POI shift at 100 meters. Easy to fix but still. Both rifles shoot awesome.

Following up here because…I hate it when a good thread dies with no resolution.

I loaded up a weekend’s worth of ammo and the first 5 shots from a clean barrel, with the brand new can, AND with an instructor breathing down my neck, went into a 1/2” hole. Essentially no POI shift at all. I haven’t re-chronied the load but the dope indicates virtually no change in velocity and there are no pressure signs at all.

As expected. My chrono with a similar setup on 260 and 6br showed less than 5fps increase with the can. Both heavy bbls on an AI, not much POI shift.

Don't worry about POI shift moving forward, you'll never shoot that rifle without the TBAC can. Congrats!
