Suppressors Suppressor for 5.56 AND .22LR?

Just wondering if there are any suppressors out there that are designed to be used on both an AR-15 style platform as well as something like a 10-22? I guess the main feature would probably be the capability to withstand the 5.56 round while still being easy to clean after firing .22LR through it? Sorry if this has been answered many times or if it is an ignorant question, I don't have any experience using suppressors.

As I understand it, you can't, or it isn't recommended.

Running a 7.62 can on a 5.56 (and everything in between) works surprisingly well though.

Re: Suppressor for 5.56 AND .22LR?

I wouldn't recommend using a 556 can on a 22lr. the carbon build up is sick. You can, but most 556 cans are not made to disassemble to clean. I would look to maybe a YHM 556, and a Griffin 22lr can. They are budget friendly and would work great.

You can run a 22lr thru a 556 can, but you will have to do a lot cleaning. Carb cleaner, and suck to keep the build up down.

If you have any questions please call. 816-718-9489

Thanks

this may sound dumb but if i have a 5.56 AR with a .22 conversion kit can i use my .22 suppressor on the AR? Im sure it would be ok but maybe reliability issues?

Buy two cans, a 5.56 and .22LR. If not, go with a 5.56 can that you can take apart, you will need to clean it after a few bricks of .22LR.

I LOOKED AT THEM AND THEN I FOUND THE HUNTER TOWN ARMS GUARDIAN 22 WITH STAINLESS STEEL BAFFLES, AND NOT BEING ALUMINUM I COULD JUST THROW IT IN THE ULTRASONIC AND CLEAN IT

Re: Suppressor for 5.56 AND .22LR?

I don't want a sealed one because dfoosking has one and after 10k rounds its heavier and doesn't suppress as well and we shoot 10x 22 as we do our long range rifles

silencershop.com did a decent review of "throwing" a suppressor into an ultrasonic cleaner. I would check it out before going down that road...

Templar Tactical Ark 15. If you're only gonna buy one can. All Titanium. User-serviceable. Can handle a 22-250.

Their Group Buy ended a few months ago, and they are SWAMPED filling the orders, but all reviews are very good... Lowlight reviewed their .30 can; good words and comparisons...

Re: Suppressor for 5.56 AND .22LR?

I have a cz452 braked and collared for the OPSINC 12th model I use on my Mk12. I have run that setup since 08 with no issues. After firing it on the cz, I look inside to check for abnormalities and then run a few 556 rounds through it to blow out any lead particles and unburned rimfire trash. ADCO at some time in the past said this was cool and I have done this without issue. YMMV

How does the suppression on a 22 or 223 using a 30 cal can compare to using the smaller caliber can? I would only be able to get one can in the near future, but I would love to be able to use it on multiple guns, from .308 down to 22lr. I'm sure using a larger can on a smaller caliber is less than optimal, just curious how much difference one would see.

Re: Suppressor for 5.56 AND .22LR?

"It depends": who made the can, ammo, barrel lengths, bolt vs semi-auto...

Generally, the .30-cal can will be "a few decibels" louder than a 223 can on the same set-up. Different to each person's ears, though. It's not the difference between having to add hearing protection or not, though...

Stuff to consider:
-Don't shoot 22LR through a non-serviceable suppressor, unless you want a huge headache to "clean" it.
-How to move the can from each weapon. Thread adapters or universal QD mounts...
-Extra weight and length of a .30-cal suppressor on the smaller caliber weapons
