Random question related to a shorter barrelled rifle and larger scope. Can or does a suppressor leak gas when fired around the attachment point? Direct thread or brake attached. It's in regards to a scope lens close to the end of the barrel and possibly potential for damage to scope.

A direct thread suppressor won’t leak any gas, but some QD mounts will.
I’ve run Gemtech and AAC QD cans in the past and gotten firing residue on the outside of the barrel.
Never had to clean crap off of the objective of my optic though.
I’ve used Griffin taper mounts recently and run SureFire exclusively on my own semiauto guns and get no gas leakage at all from either.

I don’t think that you have anything to worry about.

Thanks for the help. Just purchased a DT srs a1 covert and thinking any 5-25 will end pretty close to the hand guard and a 16 inch barrel. Have both a brake attached sac arbiter or direct thread 30P1. Figured I was safe but never hurts to ask before I potentially etch a 2k scope.

All the AAC cans I have seen leak, My Surefire can did leak, My Gemtech Halo leaks. My Q trash panda dose not....

But how close to the end on the suppressor is this optic gonna be ? none of them have been a lot.. just enough to turn Brown paint to grey right at the back of the can.

Ok ... Yea I would want to play it safe to...

I would still recommend a can from Q a trash panda and Or a Thunder Chicken.. because I have used that mount and will get you where you are going...

Others have said thunder beast but I have never seen one of those..
